I second that emotion.A great fairy story for adults.

Anyway,I slapped Girl With A Pearl Earing into the player.It’s based on the novel by Tracy Chevalier.
Some called this a literary adaptation (but with the whole of the plague back-story cut out),others,a domestic thriller.
It’s a very convincing costume drama about a girl who is hired to work in the household of the master painter Johannes Vermeer and strikes up an extraordinary relationship with him.
It’s a great film for a lazy Sunday afternoon and won’t offend anybody.

The Lady is definatly back!

Being a big Audrey Hepburn fan,I have been watching a refurbished/polished DVD of My Fair Lady.This fine restoration took over 6 months and cost in excess of $600,000.
On examination of the best remaining copy of this classic film,a team of expert restorers discovered a fading piece of art,about to be lost forever.The negative was on the verge of decay and in a delicate state of disrepare.It was so brittle it kept tearing,so had to be transfered into a computer and copied digitaly onto,in this case,Dolby SR.Then they could work on each frame,correcting colour,eliminating scratches and dirt etc.
They also found a wealth of “buried treasure” which included never-before-seen footage of how the film was made and two of Audrey Hepburn’s original sound-tracks ( her singing voice was dubbed by Marni Nixon,who also dubbed for Natalie Wood in West Side Story and Deborah Kerr in The King And I ).
Now the world can have “The Lady” with all her splendor in it’s original 70MM Panavision and state of the art digital sound:D .

Saturday night I slapped Bourne 1 and 2 into the player as a bit of homework/revision because today,I saw Bourne 3.
2007 is going to be remembered as a great year for trilogies e.g. Pirates 3,Spiderman 3,ect.Now add The Bourne Ulitmatum to the list.Directing for the second time,Paul Greengrass is of the same opinion as me.If a thing isn’t broke then don’t fix it.If you liked the first 2 films then you’re gonna love this one too.All the questions asked previously are answered.We still have the jerky hand-held cameras.Not forgetting great bone-crunching fisticuffs and a couple of brilliant car chases.This is James Bond for the new generation.Highly recommended:D .

Just got back from seeing Goldfinger at my local Picturehouse.Who could forget the sight of a gold-skinned Shirley Eaton and Connery’s eye-watering torture with that laser beam.Not forgetting the beautiful DB5 and Honor Blackman who shines as the wonderfully named Pussy Galore.This is classic 007.
There’s nothing like seeing a favorite film back on the big screen and,because I’m a member,I saw it for free:D .

As hunting is one of your “hobbies”,try this.

Doing the 3 monthly calibration of the speakers so slapped the second half of Titanic into the player (one of my favorite “set-up” films).A small tweak here and there and all is now hunky dory:D .:cool:

Regarding Transformers (pre-view)….the SFX were the best I’ve seen,the sound was pretty good to……BUT the storyline was pretty lame.Don’t wanna give anything away here but when “that robot” got ripped to pieces,I didn’t give a dam.
Gonna see it again at The Empire Leicester Square on Sunday (56 thousand watts of digital sound on a full JBL speaker system AND a pure digital picture).

Heads up.
There’s a few classic films that have been beautifully restored (picture and sound) and are on limited release at selected cinemas…
