Just to say, I have tadpoles in the pond that are just, well, tadpoles.
Are some of them not able to develop, if so, what happens to them.

Chill out Pete.As posted earlier,I check in here EVERY Sunday,a task that I very much look forward to.
Due to me working a permanent night shift,my contact with the local flora and fauna is very limited.When I look out of the window at work,I’m lucky to see a cat or a fox or the security guy walking around with his torch.

When I saw Titanic at the Empire Leicester Square,I came away feeling that the sound-track was amazing but the SFX regarding the long-shot sinking scenes were poor.
After watching the Region 2 Deluxe Collector’s Edition,in my front room,projected onto a big screen via an upscaled (1080i) DVD,I am now more than happy.It seems that a lot of work has gone into improving the visual quality.

But how many of us are preparing to fully upgrade our DVD players to HD-DVD or BlueRay in the near future?
And are we ready to replace,so soon,our “ordinary” DVD collection?

Combining my love of music and film,I slapped Beyond The Sea (2004) into the new;) dvd player.
Not knowing a lot about Bobby Darin,apart from his songs,I trusted Kevin Spacey,who also wrote and directed,to entertain and inform me for the 118 minutes that this film runs.
I kid you not,this actor CAN sing,oh yeah,and dance too..Tech Spot…..he recorded his vocal tracks at Abbey Road Studios in London,and they sound great.
It’s obvious that he has a great respect for the character he was playing,as did Jamie Foxx when he played Ray Charles in Ray (2004),and Joaquin Phoenix’s portrayal of Johnny Cash in Walk The Line (2005).
If you’re into “swing” and songs of this era,then give this film a spin.It’s very entertaining and you may pick up a bit of musical history along the way.

P.S…….For the pedantic amongst us,this information was gained by watching the film AND listening to the Director’s commentary.:cool:

Steve mentioned this a few days ago and as I’ve fancied Helen Mirren for years,I ordered a special edition from Korea which includes the film script in book form,which will come in handy for any future film quotes 😉
The royal family come across as a very strange bunch.The Queen Mother,beautifully played by the great Sylvia Syms,seems totally locked in the past,knowing nothing of the people outside her little world.The Duke of Edinburough is an evil voice in the Queen’s ear (he condones extra-marital affairs).24 hours after the death of their mother,he suggests to Princes Harry and William that they get out in the fresh air and try to shoot a stag.Surely not the best advice a grandfather has given.Prince Charles comes across as disturbed.After Diana’s death,he is convinced that someone is going to shoot him (watch him jump as the motorcycle backfires).It’s also insinuated that there’s no emotional contact between him and his parents.The guy playing Tony Blair does a great job.Totally convincing,even though he looks like he was created in Jim Henson’s Muppet workshop.
For the majority of the British public,Dianna was the peoples Princess,hounded to her death by her in-laws and the media.To the Queen,she was a “shameless ex-daughter-in-law who wasn’t shy about her celebrity”.No way would she sanction a state funeral.As Dianna was no longer a member of the royal family,she argues with Charles,who wanted to return her body to England in one of the Queen’s flight.The Queen seems to watch a lot of telly and after constant pressure from Tony Blair and the growing public pressure,she is forced to change her mind.
Helen Mirran,a sexy good looking woman,is almost unrecognizable under the blue-rinse wig,twin-set and pearls.
Recommended viewing ?……… no,but well worth a view.

Tech Spot………..The scenes involving Tony Blair and the general public was shot on 16mm film,to convey a “TV” quality.The rest of the film was shot on regular 35mm film for a more filmic quality.

Braveheart 1995.
The first was a very popular film with 5 Oscar awards,3 BAFTA’s,1 Golden Globe and the Motion Picture Sound Editor’s Golden Reel award for best sound editing.Great when heard on a good home theatre system.It’s not one of my favorite films but will stay on my DVD shelf.

The Lethal Weapon Quadrilogy.1987 to 1998.
The first was OK,again winning the Golden Reel award for best sound editing.
As usual,the follow-up was a big let down.
Three was worse and after going downhill so obviously,why sit through Four?

Jack and Sarah.1995.
OK,so sometimes us guys have to toe the line sometimes but wattya’ doing watching this totally chick-flick? Did your other half have the remote control that night;)

Another Travolta let down.Should have gone strait to video.

We Were Soldiers.2002.
If you’re into war films,this is about as good as it gets.Utterly believable.

Was gonna post a couple of my thoughts on films that I’ve seen recently,but I’m holding off because of a couple of negative posts against me.
On my past “interactions” with Robbo,who usually deletes his “silly” posts as soon as possible after getting a reaction,I’m not surprised to see his two posts still here.Robbo is just another forumite on this board,nothing more,and is entitled to his opinion.Shame he doesn’t contribute to this thread so we could asses his choice of films and the way he reviews them.
Once information is released to the public domain,it is freely usable,as long as the user makes no monetary reward.My posts,which I will continue with-unless regular posters ask me not to-will include my thoughts and various additions from other reviews I come across.
