My week-end movie plans went out of the window when a mate at work lent me the TV Series ( sadly cut short ) Firefly.Only caught a couple of episodes when first shown on Sky.Why did I not put myself out to see the rest:confused: .It’s adult Sci-fi imho. When shown in the states, they agreed, because three episodes were banned but, fear not,all 14 are included on the 4 dvd’s and in the correct order. It also led onto a feature film Serenity which is well up to standard. The Firefly fanbase is very active and keeps poking the FOX,just to remind them that there’s lots of us out here that want more.

Meanwhile a Heads Up on another kick-@rse movie Ong Bak 2 😉

Following on from EN830……..The Manfreds also did this but was written and sung by……..

    Bob Dylan….Quinn The Eskimo

Everybody’s building big ships and the boats,
    some are building monuments,
    others jotting down notes.
    Everybody’s in despair
    every girl and boy,
but when Quinn the Eskimo gets here
    everybody’s gonna jump for joy.

    ( chorus )
    Come all without,come all within,
you’ll not see nothing like the mighty Quinn.

I like to do just like the rest,
    I like my sugar sweet,
but guarding fumes and making haste,
it ain’t my cup of meat.
    Everybody’s ‘neath the trees,
    feeding pigeons on a limb,
but when Quinn the Eskimo gets here,
all the pigeons gonna run to him.

    ( chorus )

    A cat’s meow and a cow’s moo,I can recite ’em all.
Just tell me where it hurts yuh, honey,
and I’ll tell you who to call.
    Nobody can get no sleep,
    there’s someone on everyone’s toes,
but when Quinn the Eskimo gets here,
    everybody’s gonna wanna doze.

    ( chorus )…..repeat to fade……

Who was this Quinn geezer anyway and why are pigeons attracted to him.The public need to know !!!!!!!!!;)

I reckon you’d have to have some waccy-baccy to understand these lyrics…

    [B]

Well I think that was the name of the game. I was a student at the time and went to many a party, where this would be put on and out it would come. Another thing was to “drop acid” and read “Alice in Wonderland”. I have never touched drugs even though all my student friends were into them. But having said that I have become far too familiar with John Barleycorn.

    Dexedrin was our choice.
Just thaught of a couple more. Here’s the first………

Riders On The Storm by The Doors

    (1)Riders on the storm
    Riders on the storm
    Into this house we’re born
    Into this world we’re thrown
Like a dog without a bone
    An actor out on loan
    Riders on the storm

There’s a killer on the road
His brain is squirmin’ like a toad
    Take a long holiday
    Let your children play
If you give this man a ride
    Sweet memory will die
    Killer on the road,yeah.

Girl you gotta love your man
Girl you gotta love your man
    Take him by the hand
    Make him understand
    The world on you depends
    Our life will never end
    Gotta love your man,yeah

    Repeat (1)

Repeat “Riders on the storm” to fade-out.

This was the last track on the LP L.A.Woman.If you can,try to hear this track on the recently released DVD Audio disc remixed in 5.1 😀

I reckon you’d have to have some waccy-baccy to understand these lyrics…

A Whiter Shade Of Pale by Procal Harum

    We skipped the light fandango
    turned cartwheels ‘cross the floor
    I was feeling kinda seasick
but the crowd called out for more
    The room was humming harder
    as the ceiling blew away
When we called out for another drink
    the waiter brought a tray

And so it was that later
as the miller told his tale
that her face,at first just ghostly
turned a whiter shade of pale

She said “There is no reason
and the truth is plain to see”
But I wandered through my playing cards
and would not let her be
    one of sixteen vestal virgins
who were leaving for the coast
and although my eyes were open
they might just have well be closed

Due to an expected quiet night at work,I slapped Scent Of A Woman http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0105323/ into the portable.
The film, storywise, holds no surprises at all.The ending, after almost two and a half hours,is too Hollywood.Pacino got the Best Actor In A Leading Role Oscar (“and about time to” said most) for his portrayal of an overbearing, blind retired army officer who hires a young guide for a special trip to the Big Apple.
I regard his performance in Scent as one of the best acting lessons that any budding thespian could watch. His acting carries the film.Everyone else is either competant or just along for the ride.
I love watching this master of his craft do his stuff. The Tango in the restaurant is pretty cool to 😉 .

Scotty and Spock et al were ok,but, for me,Jean-luc was the man.Over the whole of this 7 series set,we see Wesley Crusher grow up,Worf gets style and Data always trying to get that little bit more human.
