    Many Thanks Coldfire and Kramer..

this is why i think possibly Indian Aviation museums could possibly help, they might have a stores of junk parts where as the scrap dealers will have probably cut them up by now, ?

its not a aircraft i am after, if you see my thread on the Su-7 i have its more for all the bits and pieces to fill the tub or at very least some drawings to copy ?

I would like to paint her in colours of the indo-pak wars of 1971
being that is where the type seen most of its combat history, and the fact
that at the moment her history is very vaque at best.

I currently have Nothing at all regarding parts, so any help or leads would be most appreciated,
I refuse to believe it is impossible those bits a bobs are out there somewhere
    😀

I feel sorry for poor paul as he’ll be doing it.

erm… No he wont .. its not going to westonzoyland… :p

However .. he said he “wanted” to help, and his son is really keen,
the Su-7 will go to barnstable for a short while , then closer to home
so “I” can work on it ,

    Thanks Merlin,

I am actually serious , and yes, anyone would think david koresh got his hands on it, its in a pretty bad way.. even Paul gulped . but the stb side is much better, and i can use the skins on the stb side to replicate the port side, so all is not lost, I think with a good clean up, and cut out of the rot,re-skin the port side and a lick of paint, it might actually start to resemble something ,

I know I have harped on about things .. that never come to fruition, but this one will, trust me, Ive done alot of thinking and ground work to make sure i dont mess this one up 😀

    Hi Teej,

Thanks for your input, TBH i dont know if it has or hasnt got any plates or markings in the wheel well, when i get it in a short while, i will take a few photo’s and find out if any markings are on it, another clue is , some of the paint is on the stb side, so the colour scheme might help ,if any is left .

lastly Many thanks for your input, it is very much appreciated.

she certainly is a mystery

Just fallen over this old thread. What’s the latest on this? I’m an old Zummerzet boy meself, and spent many a formative hour poking around WZ. I would be an avid supporter!

    Sadly,
not a lot beermat 🙁 .. just after posting this thread, there was a land dispute, of some kind, not my business, and i was just relying what i had been told, and to be fair it was possible, but, with a land issue, between certain individuals, i think it was shot down ,before it started,

maybe in the future when all those private matters are sorted something may happen, until then, we will have to just wait.. :(…. sorry to say, my over enthusiasm, made me look a bit of a fool when it stalled .. 😮

    Hi Mike,

I was there last year, ive been there a few times, asking, i have a good rough idea where she came down.. found the story fascinating.. and will follow it up, I also met a man in a local flying club, who used to walk past the crash site regularly in the 1960s whilst dog walking with his father, he remembers seeing bits and pieces of the aircraft allways underfoot, at the time, in the ploughed field.

Would be pleased to chat more on the subject , if you wish, it would be nice to find her exact crash location ..

I feel quite chuffed after starting this thread, that the son of the actual pilot , found this thread on this forum,

    PM Sent 😀

I’ve got the Peter Cooper book and there is no mention of the Sukhoi, and I can’t remember much mention on Eastern Block stuff at all in there – possibly still classified when the book was written?
I used to be in FASTA, but the first I heard about this Su-7 was when you started chasing it

    ..

makes me wonder if it really is egyptian, .. more than likely is, but unsure , shame we cant find its history ?

    TEEJ

just been through the post and links you sent, and went through it with great interest..

But, I noticed, there was not one mention of the Su-7 ….. Also i wonder if this is because the Indian Air force, had used the Su-7 since 1968, and I imagine they were part of the western allies etc, as opposed to soviet bloc,
and as such, all material regarding evaluation “Could” have been supplied by the Indians in previous years.. Its just a hunch ??..

I was sent a PM, regarding this matter, and if i managed to find a copy of Pete Cooper’s book detailing the work at the RAE at Farnborough .. It “Might” hold some clues ??

Talking of parts.. in the future.. does anyone know anyone that might suggest where to start looking, cant afford the stuff yet, but to have a contacts list would be good 🙂

lastly.. thanks for sharing the Videos of the Su-22 Paul, there triffic 😀

Everyone seems a little vaque on “where” the mig and Su-7 come from, quite a few years ago now, i just cant figure out Egypt…. of all the nations we are friendly with, I imagine militarily, Egypt was not one of them, .. just a hunch, where did robertsbridge etc get the info she was egyptian ??.. and were they complete airframes in the uk ??. or just hulks ??.. it is one to ponder about, I wonder if there is any records at Kew., records of when they arrived ??. or would they still be under the Official secrets act.. Maybe ?
