heres a link it has WH884 on it would she be anything like 887??

    http://www.classicaircraft.co.uk/canberra.htm

I reckon very very much so,looks the same as the one hanging up in duxford.
all silver, just will need more shots of that one i expect to make it back to how she was in service as a B2 at WZ

    50s silver

    Hi, again,

well if i could get the stickers ,templates, photos of her nose in the 50s i would do her silver, and convert back to B.2, with all 50s instruments etc,
but would be a long haul on that one, especailly the stickers/templates,
but whilst sanding her down ,you never know she may show her old badges, and colours,
and as for Alberts comment ,well i would not know, I know one thing for certain, she isnt going raf cammo !:D

    canberra nose wh887

Just sticking my oar in here, but I would personally strive to find it in its WZ days and try (money, resources allowing) to depict it as then, just to be more relevant for your display. A few T.T.18s are preserved (not sure how many in original colours) and indeed ensured more Canberras were preserved in the 80s and 90s.
I don’t think the Navy Canberras changed their colours that much (light grey, black and yellow stripe undersides and orange wing and fusalage bands and black titleing), I have pics of them from ’71 to last days and I can’t see any obvious differences apart from the large black nose code numbers that were added, and some losing the wing bands.

    hi

i was keen to portray the aircraft at zoyland, but so many people have begged me to keep her as a tt.18 and not a B.2 as they say there is not many TT.18 on display as there is B.2, I have to agree on that one, also Corgi have just released a new limited edition 1/72 scale die-cast model of my actual canberra, so it has been swaying me to tat side of things, But my real interest is 1950s technology, and obviosly the instrumentation from a 1955 model to a 1985 service model ,i imagine would be quite diferent,as the years progressed, especailly things like radios, radar , etc
And the HARDEST thing about the 1950s Canberra Zoyland is i cannot find any photos of her in service, only fotos of the FRADU 1980s colours , on a website,
If i could manage to find a full set of service colours through her service life, then at least i could sit down and pick the best personal one, Being a novice of canberras, i wasnt sure if in the late 60s she would have been that gorgeous Blue that early hunters were back in the late 60s-early 70s
,thats alsoa problem, as she is , I can mark out the areas as i sand them down, ,I dont need a template, its there for me, but to repaint her Correctly in early colours would be harder as i would need a full set of photos of her in her early days ,Now i just dont know what to do ????

I must say it would be easier to do her the same as she is now ,but with a new repaint

i didnt realise it was still a operational airfield, of course they wouldnt buy one of there aircraft back, especailly a gate gaurdian

    Leconsfield Hunter

Hi, I was on the phone only last week to a gentleman at Eaglescott
airfield, he has a complete hunter GA.11 for sale for £5000 ono,

i got his number from Delta jets at Kemble ,

if you look up eaglescott airfield on the web you will find it, also the hunter is on Demobbed aircraft, with its tail missing, this is in the hanger safely stored,
She has no engine, but perfect for a gate gaurdian,
    and complete,

I wish i could afford it, as the GA.11 is my Fav hunter, but i have WH887 to restore at the mo, and definately havent got £5000,

Crikey, is that some Merlins as well i see still atached to the fusalges ???

surely some of this was saved, dont tell me, its now a tescos carpark 🙁

20 years of researching and searching ,aviation archaeology and still NO merlin,
its no wonder i am getting into cockpit restoration as i think if i havent found a V12 aircraft engine by now then i never will:( , yet some aviation archaeologists pull them out the ground like there “two a penny”

I know I know , your all saying “Jelousy, is a horrid thing ” har har,

when WH887 is finished thats my next project , but that wont be for another years at least,
but the way youve all been so kind in finding me parts, i am sure i will get it done in a year:D , as long as i hurry up and get a building up to take her Home too, until then shes in storage , 🙁

I just have to say how nice it is to see people helping out and not being out to get as much as they can for prices..

yes i agree, i thought the “Spirit” of aviation was long dead, until i undertook this project, its heartwarming tohave so much support, and has boosted my confidence in the aviation world,
thank god there are still alot of genuine people out tere,
    once again,
    Thanks guys
    😀

Would LOVE to go Tony, only thing, dont know if i would manage to get my trailer made up by then, “Any scrap twin axle caravans going free:D ”

and also she is in such a poor state, i wouldnt want to embarress her, all naked with her guts hanging out, the old girl needs some dignity you know,
she will get a bit of Pampering, and then you can bet your bottom dollar she will be at the fest , and the great thing with a canberra, shes big enough to sleep in, LOL, although a little uncomfortable :diablo:

AS you can tell I LOVE older Birds hehe:D

Hasnt Merkle got one now in the shape of Canberra WH887?

Be prepared to pay good money – A Bucc cockpit was available not so long ago and iirc went for over £4000, whilst Hunters seem to be around the £2000 mark from what i have seen.

    Jon

Yep, got her secured, gonna look like new when i finished with her,
even sellin me lambretta to do it, and if you knew me, you would know ,that is like giving away your mother !!:D

    I also have:

    Throttle boxes

    Instruments

    Main wheels (!!)

    Nose gear and wheels

    Main legs

    Hydraulic components

    etc,etc

I want to dispose of the main legs, wheels, hydraulics and other stuff. If any one wants to do a deal, then give me a shout!

Hi , well yep i have thought of that, I am not goin to buy a expensive trailer when there are so many knackered caravans about, so intend to get a derelict TWIN AXLE caravan and rip the body off and restore the chassis and modify to place the canberra on ,why spend 500 on a trailer, when there are so many scrap caravans with all the brake systems, etc all in place, so ive been onto the free ads paper, and theres often a old caravan going free, if you keep your nose to the ground, I expect it would have FULL support fom jeremy Clarkeson 😀

Its good to see people being so helpful to one another.

You may wish to consider how to move the cockpit about so that you can work on it easily and in due time move it by road. Like your restoration work a bit of forethought and planning will pay dividends in the longer term. My current project has slowed down as I didn’t work out how to move it easily. When I started it was on car axle stands but luckily before I progressed too far, I realised that it was going to be too heavy to move to get my car in the garage. I am now building a garage trolly that I can pull up onto a car transporter. Just like my early days in aircraft restoration, when we considered calling ourselves a Hut Restoration Society as we spent more time repairing the old building we used than the airframes we had. We also ensured that we only collected what we had space for!
