    wants disposals section

personally i would really welcome such a section,
    like you said no prices,
just individual projects and there needs and disposals, howevor big and small
    for use by everybody ,
there are many individuals out there who dont knowwhere to start looking for that elusive part,
and i am sure parts etc, that end up in the bin because no one knows they are for disposal,
i think its a great idea

Just a quick reminder to everyone that the 25th Whitwick Aeromart is on this Saturday, 26th April at The Hermitage Leisure Centre, Silver St. Whitwick, Leicestershire. J13 M42, J22 M1 (5 miles from each). It opens at 8.45am for earlybird entry (£5) or 10am for people who prefer a lie-in (£2.50). The event closes at 2pm.
I am pleased to report an increase in stallholders since the last event a year ago – an encouraging sign. Please do come and support the event if you can. It is far more fun than ebay! Buy, sell, swap and barter….

    See you there?

    David

cor, I havent been to one fo those in years, if my mrs will let me prize myself away, i will be going, might find some good canberra parts/contacts

    Come on enough enough,

😀 come on lads. please stop sqaubbling, as far as i am concerned its over,
its gone too far, i know i certainly didnt help things, for which i have apologised,
lets keep on the subject of aviation
perhaps we could have a Virtual pub thread where we can go and chit chat about anything, and not take it seriously,

Please can we stop this fighting, its not doing any good, i apologise for taking things to heart last nite and could we please leave it like that, we should be supporting one another, and having a laugh, not a Virtual Punch up,
Perhaps a “Pub” thread would be a good idea, and any trouble the “Moderators” could act as “Bouncers” and any trouble they could eject the drunkards:D
I’m buying the first round !!:D
bring yer own tinnys and log on, ,good idea,
now lets LEAVE the Lasham thread for what it is intended for, Discussion about Lasham, Nothing else,

    sorry to all

its the morning now, and i have calmed down, i have no interest in squabbling,
sorry for all who have had to put up ith my profanities,
i must be honest ,i have used it like a “Pub” my word has never been gods,
just chat, i thank all of you who have helped me, you have all been very kind,
i somewhat feel dragged into alot of this, and as for last night it was only a suggestion ,I really comend what Millom are doing, and i imagine that alot of surplus would be sent on loan to other museums ,rather than the cutters yard,
honestly i have nothing against no one, perhaps i was a tad “Nieve” about my
“cleanup gang” last night, i never meant to tred on anyones toes,
just wanted to see how many others thought it would be a good idea, i never realised the Lasham question had been brought up before lots of times,
i will keep things to myself in future, as i now realise it s not a “PUB” enviroment, as some see it as a very serious issue , this forum,
all i have tried to do is make some new friends ,and learn some things on the way,
yes i did bleat about cockpits, in the start, and have done for years, as i was serious, but could not find any, its who you know not what you know,
and David, I am sorry i was a little harsh, but i felt i was being talked down too, I am far from a expert, and have a lot to learn,
the only thing i am specailist in really is south west aircraft losses,
hence why ive asked for so much advice on cockpit/restoration,
i am sorry if i have wasted so many peoples time,
and i will keep my posts to a minimum in the future,
    kind regards
    Chris C

The museum isn’t struggling as such . They do their own thing and have been doing so for a long time – well before the condition of aircraft could be sumarised from a couple of pictures on the internet.

Whilst it’s a nice idea to deploy a forum team to polish and dust aircraft – in the case of these machines it wouldn’t really achieve anything as they will be sat in the same position next year decaying at the same rate. I would also point out that as a courtesy to any museum – I would be talking to them directly about what I can do to help rather than talking about what I want to do with someone else’s property on the internet.

Oh for christ sake, it was only a suggestion, whats the point of me going in person on my own to ask to help, I was only making a suggestion, you might have all said ” go away, were all too busy”
JUst a suggestion thats all, its a long way from home for me and frankly i have much better things to do than polishing aircraft on the weekend
, it was just a little suggestion of a supportive act, putting MY valuable time and effort as with others if allowed to give them a hand “IF THEY WANTED IT
i would gain Nothing from doing this apart from helping someone ,makes me bloody mad, i am not stupid, i never suggested turn up mob handed without permission, bloody great, try and be a sodding good samaritan ,it seems whatever i say on this forum, people take it the wrong way ,Why oh why should i bother, i will just shut my mouth in future ,and get on with my own thing instead, it may only be a scrap cockpit, but ive put every penny i can spare to save her, and would gladly help anyone with anything, but it just seems everytime i open my mouth, people on here take it the wrong way,
stuff it why should i bother, bury the bloody lot in a pit and set fire to it for all i care 😡

Nice shots BSG, I do hope something good happens to that Sea Prince soon.
The prop looks similar to those fitted to C-119s, especially the overall size and square tipped blades.
I think the radial engine might give a clue.

Looks like a hercules engine and prop against the wall, if its seized it will never be able to be freed ,sleeve valve engines are renown for it,
i reckon its all probably come from a Varsity or something alike the Varsity,

    lasham

such a shame this poor museum is struggling , and i am having a go at no one
it must be really hard to keep these aircraft up together after so many years in the open, especailly with flagging volounteer help, and low funds,

I am quite gutted for all the aircraft , although Meatbox F8 and Prentice seem to be surviving well,
but that poor old meatbox night fighter , and sea hawk, wessex etc:( , they need some help fast, (anythig post war jet and i am in love !)
wonder if lasham would mind a Forum gang going down to kive them a clean up , rather than let them decay any more, just to clean up any green mould
and any rust spots to be cured, and a little oiling of parts to keep the rust at bay ,
    what say you members ???
we all Talk about it, but would it hurt for a day to help them clean up some of there aircraft Mob handed ???:D

    tornado

We will leave this one for Merkle, as we have got one of each and maybe a third to come.

However if it is at risk give us a shout.

    thanks ,nice one,
although would not be inkeeping with the museum ideas,
the museum, would consist of aircraft losses from the south west,
and airframes /cockpits of aircraft types that served at WZ, as the base shut in 1958,
or aircraft that flew in the area during ww2, and post war,as there were alot of Vampires etc, pretty much trying to cover history from South Glos to North devon, but predomenantly on Weston Zoyland,
I am gutted the Meteor t.7 at duxford is going to USA, as this is one of the most desirable types, and quite a few were lost over the south west from WZ
    under 12 FTS
i am sure any cockpit will not be junked , as there is so many people out there who want to restore one ,
    thanks for the offer though,
But if you see any at all 1950s ,early sixties, i would be really interested,
    😀
sadly no tornados, but i know matt is desperately looking for any cockpit,

Ah gives us plenty time to collect some more, anyone know of anything at risk that needs saving – it seems to becoming our speciality subject.

Please leave a little for us, i have been in contact for a few airframes, and am on the books, at this rate, there will be nowt left for anyone in the country, especailly anything from the coldwar/early post war period,
    🙁

    airframes,from all over UK

whilst i really find what your doing is comendable, at the rate your collecting airframes, will there EVER, be anything left for the rest of us ??
I can see at this rate Ken ellises W+R book No 23, in he future, not bothering with most counties, as it will all be at Millom, lol:D

Hence to say, i cant wait to visit the treasures in this museum when its set up !!

A forum search on TT.18 will give pictures of the pilot main panel and the following diagram from the Pilots Notes.

    Regards
    Ross

thanks Ross, thats a great help:D

any one know where i can get a copy of the Pilots Notes ???
    and a AP,
wonder if i should try FAA Museum , as they served there in the 1980s,
she may well be staying FRADU at mo, only due to the fact i believe she still has alot of instruments in the back for the TT18,
but we will have to wait and see until I have got her back home and gone through her with a fine tooth comb 😀
I suggest a “CANBERRA SPECAIL” next year at Cockpit fest as it will be the Canberras 60th aniversary !!!, anyone else agree, ????

I have re-read my posts and in no way was I being sarcastic or critising you, I thought up untill now I was just trying to put general info your way, sorry if it looks like anything else. Re stencils and stickers I was merely pointing out that stencils were used, and ‘straight forward’ alluded to the silver paint scheme, your first post here asks for advice and comments.
I have been generally supportive in PM and posts, and am really glad you have preservation projects going.
    I will ‘butt out’

Sorry Pagen, Its so easy to take things the wrong way when just reading a few lines,
truth is i did not know how these machines were painted, but i suppose I cab mask off all the areas where the signs are ie ejection seat etc and go ahead and paint it, then sprucing up the stencilling after she has her main paint job,
I guess i will have to try a find a AP for her, also as most of the cockpit panels are missing in the front I will have to find a in depth layout of the instrument panels and ancillerys., i will have to wait until i get her to zoyland to see exatly whats missing , someones been through her like a dose of salts
although suprisingly alot of Nav stuff has been left and a bang seat but as for the front i think i have a set of rudder pedals and odd parts, thats it, i will have to source the rest some how
once again sorry pagen for thinking you were be-littling myself on the forum,
i look forward to your future helpful comments 😀

    Where?

Re silver scheme, it really was straight forward and all the stencilling (not stickers!) etc would be in designated areas as layed out in the AP.

OK Pagen, I dont claim to be aexpert on Canberras, or any aircraft for that reason,
I simply DONT KNOW , I will have lots of help and advice where the aircraft will be situated,

I know nothing of “Stickers”/Trnsfers”/Stencils etc etc, or where to get them, this includes AP’s ,My expertease lies in research of crashed military aircraft ,

which is a lot different to aviation preservation, but please give me a chance, we all had to start somewhere, i have helped in the restoration of a pietenpol air camper, and mostly of a Bucker(CASA) Jungmann, a totally diferent kettle of fish, as we had to start from scratch , and the paint scheme was from a book,
I need help not sarcastic critisism, I simply do not know, the last thing i want to do is to put a stencil, etc in the wrong place and take it to cockpit fest for people to laugh at my mistakes, i want to get it right first time,I also feel there is a need to hurry as its the canberras 60th

    WH887 today

, suprisingly she still had one of her bang seats in, the Nav position i believe , but no FLIGHT panel at all, is in quite a mess really ,gonna need some work , and much bigger than i expected,
there was quite a bit of stuff in the collection of aircraft stuff there, from VC10 cockpits to a puma, and a gutted PR9 nose

also need the navigators hatch panel, i imagine the list is endless,
will get her to Zoyland soon, and dont worry Nige will sort you out soon (you know who you are 😉 )
