RE: New Look For BE
I can’t help but think that this is not a good idea for British European. They are a good airline, though with them branding themselves as a low cost carrier I think that maybe they have made a bad decision.
British European are a regional airline who operate regional aircraft (Dash 8,BAe 146 and CRJ)which I doubt with fuel, maintenance, ect,it is not going to be cheap to run those aircraft compared to the likes of the 737.I remember BE were in the process of retiring their CRJs a while back, until their RJX order fell through, because they said they were to expensive to fly. With them going low cost it is going to seem a lot of money to operate these aircraft.
The regional airports BE fly in to have very expensive fees,I think LCY is one of highest in Europe.Other low cost operators keep away from thse type of airports and operate from places were there are low landing fees. (Ryanair definitely do this) So this another that going low cost could proove expensive for BE.
Low cost operators have an average load factor of 80% yet the regional carriers have only around 50% which again is a problem facing BE.Though this could change for BE with low prices,BE will always be a regional carrier and so the rule that the low cost operators seem to use (the more seats filled the lower the prices) may seem hard for BE to follow.
Not to mention that they are still offering a buisness class is another reason why low cost is not so good for them.I think they should of just kept with what they were doing, offering from time to time special offers and keeping themselves as one of Europes fastest growing regional airlines.

RE: Pic Of The Day-Condensiation
Great pictures, the fog makes the Pan Am aircarft look very strange! The first picture looks like its at Dublin?Probably on its way to Atlanta.
RE: New Look For BE
I agree with you A330Crazy,the aircraft do look a lot brighter as well as more modern. When the aircraft were put in the old BE c/s they looked ugly as well as dirty which was sad because their BAe 146 are great aircraft. Now they look like they have been brought back to life with the new colours.
RE: Pic of the day
The NZ c/s is very nice….great picture!

TU-154?
RE: Future of 3 engined commercial liners
The Tri-jets are beautiful aircraft,I love the Tristar and the TU-154,though because of the reliabilty of the engines around these days I don’t think we will se another tri-jet aircraft. The costs of things such as maintance for airlines these days is another reason why we are unlikely to ever see a return of a 3 engined aircraft.
RE: RE%3A G-MIMA
A few years back I flew JER-ORK on a Manx J41.The flight was smooth but very uncomfortable in the 1×2 seat combination. At first there were numerous comments by other passengers concerning the size of the aircraft taking us up to Cork, however, the flight was fine though the weather was good when we travelled so I would say it could be quite bumpy on a bad day going over the Irish sea.
