RE: HETHROW RUNWAY THREE
Yes it does already have a 3rd runway, which is runway 23.It is rarely used except in 35+ knots winds from the south- west. The new runway would be in use most of the time.

RE: HETHROW RUNWAY THREE
BAA has called on the CAA to increase airline charges to help fund Heathrow’s Terminal 5 which requires some 2 billion pounds of investment if, as expected, planning permission is granted later this year.
regards Saab 2000
P.S would Terminal 5 just be used for BA flights or would it be used be other airlines?

RE: British Caledonian back!!!
According to the magazine (Air Pictorial)it says,
‘BA is reported to have re-purchased the Caledonian Airways name adding to thought that it is considering re-launching a new seperate charter division.Caledonian dissapeared in 1999 when it was merged with Flying Colours to form JMC.’
I have sent a letter off to the editor asking if there is any more information about, but i doubt i will get a replie.

Pitty to here about the three airbus being destroyed,i think there was some military aircraft destroyed to.

That program was Rubbish!!!!First of all i don’t think one of the presenters had a clue about aviation, and do peploe really want to hear this just before they go on holiday?
Flying is the safest way to travel, and they made it seem like if you go by plane this year is ever going to crash or fall out the sky!!!Give me discovery wings any day of the week especially that program flight deck,or even airport on ther BBC.

P.S.Next week i do not intend to watch 4X4 about the working woman and how rich they are!!!

RE: Up and coming regional airports
Exeter is the main hub of British European (BE) and they seem to be investing a lot in new hangers and maintanance facilities at the airport. There are new routes from Exeter to luton with linkair who operate a single 9 seater cessna caravan 406.The fglight goes from exeter-luton-manchester and there are many charter services-Faro,Toronto,Malaga,Crete,Larnaca and many more.
Swansea airport is a new regional airport and is said to be in talks with airlines to operate regional and charter services.
regards saab 2000
Carl727–i have some good news for you,Euro Celtic are supposed to start a liverpool-waterford service in late july and also are looking in to doing a service between liverpool-luton with the fk 27’s,they are also interested in buying ever a bae 146 or a dash 8-300 to replace the fk27.
RE: Up and coming regional airports
Just got back from Southampton airport and that was a pretty good regional airport.I counted around 3 BA ERJ 145’s when we arrived,AF atr 72 and an Aurigny, plus the dash 8 of jy (new code BE coming in october)i was in.It is a very attractive and modern airport and i think will see an increase in regional traffic plus charter airlines (JKK,AEA,BY)SOU has good motorway links from all the main towns and cities around the area and so may seem more attractive to people from Reading and Brighton for example than Heathrow.
One last thing,The isle of Wright should have a passenger airport. On the way over i met a woman who was coming from GCI and then had to get a boat from SOU to ther IOW,quite a lot of hastle!!!
