Flybe. have tried new routes from Exeter before yet they never seemed to of done well, it will hopefully be a wake up for people in the region to use Exeter airport as attempts in the past have not bought in sufficient numbers to make services viable. To be honest I think the market is too small with the potential market going to Bristol and Bournemouth etc.
The Med. destinations are always good but have you seen the frequency of the UK destinations? Late in the day and only of once daily frequency, they brag on about local businesses but they are hardly convinient. People would have to continue using Bristol.
The GIG/GRU-LHR flight is scheduled as an MD 11.
Don’t Varig normally bring the MD 11 in? The 777s I though went to FRA and CDG instead? Nice pictures anyway đ
Well Newark to Hong Kong used to be the longest though it stopped, think it might be coming back in the future. I would probably have to agree with Kabir on the longest though doesn’t South African make a stop in the Cape Verde Islands?
They were taken over by Ryanair a few months ago. It would of probably been at CDG that you saw them, they never operated from LGW.
Not exactly the best route to open up considering Air Canada’s current position and the fact they used to operate this route before and pulled out after only a short period. Daily seems quite excessive, is it sustainable? Connecting through Europe seems to be a better idea to me.
Anyway, only more good spotting for our friends in Delhi đ
Wouldn’t have expected anything more, not exactly an area that needs the greatest capacity boost considering the low cost saturation around the region, the routes mentioned are just supportable for the winter season.
Should have bolstered up other bases such as Manchester, which seems undeserved before they moved into another area such as Teeside. It has taken them not even a year to open up 3 new bases, look how long it took other airlines.
Just my opinion on Bmibaby…
Firstly welcome, nice aircraft choice you got there. The Trislander is a fantastic aircraft to fly as a passenger, I was on one yesterday as a matter of fact. Glad to have a fellow fan amongst us đ
Anyhow, here are my choices,
Livery least likely to attract attention on a crowded apron:
Aerolineas Argentinas, white and blue are so dreary, they’ve been done so many times over so it doesn’t stand out.
Livery in most need of an update:
LTU, red and grey are a bad combination, seem to conflict. Needs a definite change to lighter colourings.
Livery you would like to see on a dark winterâs day:
Aer Lingus. Natural, vibrant and dynamic, truly reflects its country. Would brighten up a winter’s day for me.
I do get the impression that Noel Hayes sees this as an excuse to rock the establishment if you will rather than actually offer a reliable passenger service, which leaves a lot to be desired if you look at the changes to the schedule in the last few months. He seems to place quite a bit of emphasis on competition to Aurigny yet doesnât seem to answer the questions whether there would be another passengers to warrant competition or if it would be a temporary route if it were not to succeed.
But anyhow, I welcome a bit of competition on the route. Just an example, some of my family came over from Ireland yesterday, they flew JetMagic to Jersey and then this morning they caught an inter island flight to Guernsey. The Cork flight was ÂŁ100 return with the flight to Guernsey being around ÂŁ70 return for one person, rather expensive donât you think? If Le Cocqs can bring these prices down then the inter island flights could probably see an extra generation of passenger numbers, which have been on the decline because you have in direct competition with the ferry on the route.
I question Aurignyâs and the States attitudes towards letting Le Cocqs on the route. It would damage the airlineâs service on the route? I quite doubt this. The Islander aircraft only seats 10 passengers, Aurigny have cut up to half of the inter island services this year, even with the addition of two Shorts it doesnât seem as if there would be saturation of seats to me. The Islander has been operated successfully between Jersey and Alderney and between the islands and Bournemouth so it wonât be economical on inter island? This doesnât add up to me considering that Aurigny used to operate the aircraft themselves.
I think to be honest it is just the disagreement of the States to see their airline receive competition (something they are not used to) and Aurigny obviously realising this, Mr Hayes and Mr Hart are not exactly the best of friends now are they!
But it will be good to see Le Cocqs get the route. I was up Guernsey airport yesterday and their Bournemouth flight went off full so they seem to be quite successful. Lets just hope they are not expanding too quickly, you wonder where they will get their aircraft.
BouĂ´njour….in Norman French.
BouĂ´njour….in Norman French.
Yeah, I came on Monday morning and was quite shocked with what I saw. Excellent to have the forums back, you don’t realise how much your lives revolve around them until they are gone đ
The realisation now is that Switzerland canât support such a large airline. Swissair should of just been allowed to die with the expansion of Crossair, no development of Swiss.
EGNM, I miss the British Midland Commuter Saab 340 down to Guernsey đ
Wysiwyg, interesting that you say that there are a few problems at Aurigny hopefully whatever they are can be sorted out. Good that you still remain attached to the airline though.
Will complement their expansion well.
