I think that is the only aircraft they use across the Atlantic?
Nice pictures Comet…notice how you can never get away from those wings on the BAe 146. I always think great, away from the wings so I will have good views, how wrong I am!
Love the Aer Lingus photos (and of course the VLM Fokker picture 🙂 ), one of my favourite airlines. Brings back some fond memories of my last EI trip.
Andrewm, a Flybe. 737? From what I have heard they would rather go totally turbo-prop and continue operating the BAe 146. 737 doesn’t seem like Jim French talking…I would be interested to hear about if so.
Well it would not of been the airport I would of thought growth would occur a few years ago, but ever since Ryanair arrived it has been extremely busy. I think because of Cornwall’s new tourist look it will see some huge growth in the future.
By the way EGNM, look at thisisjersey.com on a saturday and you will see how busy JER is on a Saturday! IOS Skybus will also operate into the C.I. this winter from Newquay.
Wasn’t the loss of the ETOPs license just on the A330? I think they were allowed to continue with the A310 and 757.
Those posters are much better quality than the regular ones. I put them all over my study and it was getting a bit dull and the posters were looking aged. Two big tail design posters and now it looks very professional! I wish they would do more…
For soccer I am locally a supporter of Vale Rec and for the English league Southampton.
And of course I only support one team in this years Island Games :p Notice how there is a history of the host winning (Bar the IOM in 2001)

Thank you Skycruiser. Living around the airline and seeing its operations from day to day just made me interested to see it from a former pilot’s perception rather than a public one. Thanks…
Well to see such large cut in workforce and fleet is very hard, the anxiety and uncertainty for the employees must be just like déjá vu of the old Swissair situation. It doesn’t look good but as has been said before, the size of Swiss in my opinion was absolutely lubricious and sadly now Switzerland will have a much smaller airline though trimmer one which they should have had in the first place.
Looking around at the measures it does show that the “Swissair path” seems to be disappearing and they are turning towards a more successful concept as used by airlines such as Aer Lingus.
Anyway, sad times but hopefully light at the end of the tunnel?
I suspect it would be with an A330. All UK routes seem to be doing well, LGW, LHR, MAN and BHX all have a very regular frequency.
Obviously I suspect the growing tourism industry plus the extremely popular connections to the East will make the route a success.
Any news on US Airways at GLA?
The good news is that Bmibaby have applied to fly MAN-JER for the winter season as the third daily route for the airline to the island. I doubt there will be any pullout now as had been worring me.
Skycruiser/Wysiwyg, hope you don’t mind me asking, but did you generally enjoy your time on the Saabs and at Aurigny? Just interested to see what former pilots think about it 🙂
I am wondering if Jersey will be discontinued if they are pulling out of Glasgow because of the landing fees. Bmibaby has threatened to pullout of the island for the same reasons.
I have never flown on one but I see them all the time. Our “national” airline Aurigny, operate a fleet of them and from looking at them they do look very reliable and efficient plus seem to handle beautifully.
I am sure Wysiwyg can give you more details 😉

Glasgow has no one but themselves to blame for this. Their high fees demonstrate how easily it for an airport to lose a service such as this and for the airline move to a place where growth and lower prices are not restricted.
