Firstly, my sympathies to the captain’s friends and family.
Do you think possibly the weather could of been a factor? For the last two days now we have experienced some extremely bad thunderstorms (worst I have ever seen), Brest is pretty close to us, can’t of been much different down there either.
Yes HLX is pulling out of LTN because it did not bring in the right mix of traffic. MAN will be their area of concentration from now on.
Germanwings is a very decent operation. It was created by Lufthansa to keep control of the ever expanding German low cost market, don’t forget LH operates 80% domestic so effectively if they created a proper operation they would win control of this market also. From the opinions I have heard of the airline, I think they run a very succesful operation and have prepared LH for the low cost era quite well.
Yes, all you need is a drink nothing more. Service goes beyond the meal. As long as the crew are friendly and punctual then that is all that matters.
9/11 made it very visible and realistic that a more business like approach is needed towards airline ownership. Airlines such as British Airways and Lufthansa should be able to benefit from economies of scale by buying other airlines out like SAS with your smaller unprofitable airlines who cannot survive on their own going under. Such situations like governments bailing out airlines because of national identity or pride is nonsense with this act being apparent in no other industry.
As was discussed earlier factors such as bilateral agreements, government bailouts, foreign ownership etc, all protect an airline, whereas in contrast, these barriers should not exist and for the good of the industry. Consolidation should be allowed to take
place with restrictions being lifted and less significance placed on an airlines nationality but more on them as business’.
The situation in Europe where every country has a national airline is an old idea as seen by the unprofitably, large fleets and networks of certain airlines. If these were to be merged than there would be greater efficiency with 3 or 4 major carriers and smaller carriers linking to hubs such as Frankfurt, Heathrow or CDG. This is what I would like to see happen but from things mentioned in above paragraphs, I quite doubt it.
Yes, that is what I though was going to happen though both must be on passenger services during the weekend if you consider one is doing inter island and the other on charters from Jersey.
A bit confusing, I will have to find out what is happening though it is hard because the majority of mail cargo is from Jersey rather than Guernsey because we recieve Channel Express on the postal service instead so I don’t know really what the cargo operation is like on Jersey.
Ah okay, excellent. Sounds quite easy and convenient (at least there wonβt be worries about who has the tickets). I know you have to photo identification, I know you have to have that for all Flybe. domestic flights now so no big problem.
Thanks, easier than I though.
Yes the old messages are still accessible, probably more easily than before.
The 737-600 has had alot of problems with SAS and the 767 is being retired.
What I am saying is if you consider the size of SAS and the area it consumes plus the market that is there etc compared to Romania, then to operate such a diverse fleet for such a small airline doesn’t seem right taking into account the costs involved in such a move. Look at CSA an all Boeing short haul fleet, Croatian an all Airbus short haul fleet, Malev an all Boeing short haul fleet, compared to TAROM.
Linked to a travel company offering charter flights from Manchester to Cape Town in the winter with European destinations for the summer.
I am not sure, it might alternate between the two.
The other Shorts OY-MUG, has also had new titals put on though it has a revolting colour scheme.
Wysiwyg,
The OY Scan Con Shorts is just temporary until the 30th November.
I have a few likes and dislikes. My top five would be,
1- Royal Jordanian
2- Aer Lingus
3- EL AL
4- TAP Air Portugal
5- Swiss International
Yet such a contrast yesterday to Thursday , it was blazing sunshine.
One of the Aurigny Shorts 360 (G-BPFN) has also had Aurigny.com titles painted on the aircraft with a small logo on the tail as well. Much better that the old G-BMLC.

haha….thank you Wysiwyg π
TAROM has an extremely varied fleet of aircraft for such a small airline, quite a bad idea if you consider they also have the 737-700 on order. For an airline that is being privatised such a large deficit should be cut with the standardisation of the fleet.
