There had been speculation about the incident having some connection with hunting:confused:
But it appears to be just an accident.
Classic Shack vid, in Coastal Command service.
Outstanding:cool: Still at STM, but alas, no more airfield for us:(
Has anyone else noticed that the ‘pledge data’ on the website now seems to show over £380 million???
Bonus’s all round then:D
No goal quite like an own goal:rolleyes:
How dare they use one of my favourite Airfix Spitfire kits anyway.

I’ve also got both on VHS plus the two mugs- the white Phantom Phimale & yellow “Check Six”.
A mate put them both onto disc for me a while back as my VHS went the way of the pear:o
Know what your saying hunterxf382, but when a topic on a certain type I have little interest comes along, then I don’t view it (well, much;)) but if a subject I enjoy viewing, particulaly photos, such as Shackletons then what better thread or indeed title can there be? So the same should apply for folk that who like Hunters/Gannets/Gnats/Vickers Vildebeest etc etc.
Long live the photo threads says the noob who has just put his coat back on the hook:D
I like the picture threads, great to see pictures on here rather than have them languishing in an album or eventualy getting lost when a hard drive crashes.
ok ok noob getting coat:o
Just been examining the previous threads now pagen, interesting stuff, please forgive me as a relative noob.
The reason I dug this pic up out of the Power point file is I had the very same thought as your good self…
I instantly thought of a Firefly.
But didn’t want to bung it into the Firefly thead in case I made a complete peon of myself, which I achieved anyway with a repost:o
Doh!
There’s a few firms doing full size fibreglass replicas, one of those maybe the most cost effective.
As to the actual cost…dunno:o
Spitfireman has one in his garden http://www.wallond.com/
Some great threads on 28 days later

Take a look at the bottom of the page at the related links too, all very interesting.
Yes there’s something about the bluff fronted Mk.1s, you can still walk through the forward fusalage of the Flambards example, just like being in a WWII era bomber, complete with that lovely smell which never seems to go away.
Unlike the “lovely smell” found while excavating the remains of a T4 nose from the lost dumping ground at StM, eh Pagen?:D
Fantastic pics David:cool:
Just like to add a couple from my late fathers collection, he was a MAEOP with 42sqn at St Mawgan from the mid 60’s on the Shack 3/3 & continued on to the Nimrod MR1 until the mid 70’s.
42sqn Aircrew in front of WR977
Getting some pics of Russian ship (taken from a P3)

XF701 (pic too big for my scanner:o)

Or even selling rides in the vacant rear seats, I’m sure some rich folk would pay a fair premium for that privilage.
Obviously this is without consideration to any H&S, CAA or private hire issues:o
Never thought about it at the time, what happened to that WWII bowser on the nose?? I’m sure it didn’t go for scrap.
Wasn’t that part of the airports “historic” vehicle collection Baz?:D
Still, not too far removed from what we were using up to the end.

poor old 756 got the chop ultimately:(
