Bet you haven’t seen one like this in the last 30 mins Baz;)

Been going through some old stuff & exhumed this, it was given to my (now late) father as a Birthday present by some well meaning soul, I recall Dad being suitably grateful at the time, then giving it to me after him muttering about never having any to do with Hurricanes (he was a WOP/AG on Wellingtons)

The plaque is of a fair size- 18 x 7 inches.

    An Introductory Handbook

Ahhhh the days when a unit bothered to help new arrivals find their feet.

The intro from a 52 page handbook all about RAF St Mawgan for new arrivals.

Must be from May 61 – June 65 as thats when Gp Capt Lindsay had control of the train set.

Must relate to a wartime incident pagey old bean, I’d imagine the sort of fighter that a Sunderland would encounter would be something along the lines of a long range JU88 maybe?

    New one on me also:confused:

So besides the likelihood of me glowing in the dark like a readybrek commercial after taking it to bits (about 20 years ago I hasten to add), no ideas what this came off?

Hate to think the forum could be beaten by such a mundane item as this aneroid:D

The authors state that this model “was developed for high-altitude aircraft, such as the pressurised Spitfires“. 150 mb is about 45,000 feet.

Now that is interesting, the chap that gave me this worked down at the local rubbish tip (yeah ok :o) I worked (at the time) for a tyre firm that looked after their wagons, I asked all the blokes there to keep a look out for interesting aviation related artifacts, this particular individual presented me with this aneroid, informing me that he was assured it came off a Spitfire (like we all haven’t heard that one before:rolleyes:)

    Maybe he was right.

    Thanks Resmoroh, most helpful.

Hardly concrete evidence, seems like the liberals mates clutching at straws (again) .

Whatever people think of UKIP, they are a far more credible party than The Liberals (under Clegg) will ever be.

Ah runflats…the jolly old Dunlop Denovo, then after that the Dunlop/Michelin combined effort the ‘TD’ (not a true runflat but still a PITA)

All from a past life working in rubber (so to speak 😉 )

Phew that was a close call!!!😀

Thought of the much plugged museum when the whole UKIP/Newark story hit, had visions of the collection being sized up to attack France or something, under the possible new local administration.
