Looking good Matt, are you getting that addiction too ? 😀

I’m gonna need a 15mm lens to get a shot of my fleet as things stand. Just won three on e-bay… Emirates 773, China Eastern MD-11 and Air China 744, also expecting an Air Holland 767, a USAF “Airforce Two” 757 and another BA 757, hopefully in better nick than the faded one I got last week.

One day this madness will recede 😮

Like this? – give me a throbbing Merlin any day!

Why do so many Spitfire fans go on about “throbbing Merlins” so often ?(lol) 😉 😀

Andrew, if you are using Version 7.0 or CS, goto File>Save for Web. You can then optimise the quality, pallete, etc of the image so you can keep file sizes to a minimum but still keep top quality. I believe Adobe have a line called PhotoshopElements which is deisgned for this task, user photos, etc without all the high-end features of Pohotoshop 😛

I got a copy of Photoshop Elements with my Canon 10D, in fact they gave two copies of it, so if yer looking for one… ?

You should be able to get better results than that with that spec of camera Dean. Perhaps a little over use of digital zoom ?

My advice — to many this will seem most a long winded process, but i find it does the trick and gets the pics looking top notch.

First switch the camera on, then copy the file from the camera to your documents on your computer. From there i would open up photoshop and resize the picture to 1024×768, which gives you a full screen size of your picture. I would then (if the shot needed it) brighten it up, adjust the colour levels etc, and sharpen it a little. For uploading to say PP.net/A.net i would save it as 1024×768 pixels on the 12 quality (which is top – usually around 500-800kb), though for forum purposes i resize the shots to 700 pixels and save them on 8 or 9 quality (giving around 80-90kb), which would get them under the 100kb limit the forum has.

Hope that makes sense. 🙂

All of the above can be acheived using Irfanview which is free to download and easy to use. http://www.irfanview.com

My grandad died of Alzheimers too, so I can vouch for all those expressing sympathy for his family. A disgustingly destructive disease. 🙁

An interesting article in Aircraft Illustrated on this too in the last issue. I’m also pleased to discover the special 747 is now available in 1:400 model form. At last one I can play with in the bath (lol) 😀

I said, optimal, LOL, I meant Optical. It says on the camera it’s a 38-380mm equivalent.

A fortunate slip of the tongue, as even on optical zooms there’s an optimal point where beyond the picture gets all fuzzy, mushy and minging. This is normally the zone irate television sports directors would have us operate within. (lol)

What does a 10x optimal zoom in a digital camera equate to? If utilized, does it take away from the quality?

By optimal you either mean optically zoomed in or somewhere like that in digital terms.

If it’s a cheap lens then optically it won’t produce the goods beyond it’s “optimal” range, roughly 85% zoomed, in my experience. If it’s a digital zoom, then through it out and blast the fecker with a Colt 45 !!!

The 10x refers to the widest angle of the lens measured in millimetres and then the tight end, zoomed in by 10x, so if you had a 3mm focal length zoomed out, you’d have a 30mm lens zoomed in to the max (optically).

Ren, if you dont mind me asking; What equipment do you use?

Fantastic pics, I love the green country side.

Canon 10D and a 300mm lens, couple that with some cropping and PC enhancement. :p
