It’s a shame you didn’t post a couple of weeks ago when some of went to DUB for a day out.

To get to your question though, I see DUB as being a bit like GLA/EDI combined, in that you have good range of international long haul and short as well as charters to lot’s of varied destinations, without being a major hub like LHR or AMS.

As for expansion of long haul routes and types, it sounds like certain US carriers are making noises about moving into DUB in much the same way as they are making noises about moving into GLA and EDI.

GLA is currently awaiting new routes with smaller long haul types from PIA, US Airways and Emirates. I don’t see why DUB shouldn’t see that kind of traffic either. Established US carriers are getting stronger again after the 9/11 recession, so it’s also feasible for existing operators to up the frequencies or perhaps switch to larger types, like Continental did at GLA with move from 757 to 762, to 764. American Airlines are rumoured to be upgrading from 763 to 777 next season.

I imagine you might see similar business through DUB.
