It would be a shame if they turned into Ryanair.
Elstree for the interiors.
BA should sponsor my team, St Mirren, cause all we win each year is BA… b*gger all ! 🙂
Must be ny NTL server then, bloody useless at the best of times.
Do you think they’ll put any more planes through the paint shop ?
Whilst I agree with Saab’s views, I also think in the case of Aer Lingus that they have worked very hard on customer service and satisfaction. This is important and what the travelling public remembers.
I could list a lot more airlines I’ve flown on where the staff seem phoney and ungenuine in their service approach, than those who appear to enjoy what they do and radiate that quality around the cabin. In the Aer Lingus case I’m happy to recommend them to others as I’m sure plenty of people who’ve enjoyed their laid back style do as well.
It’s true that positive PR is hard to account for in revenue terms, but it must make a difference to the balance sheet. I’d cite Virgin Atlantic as being another case in point.
I doubt it, modern engines are so efficient you don’t really need 3. Although you have to ask the question, if engines are so efficient why not use 3 instead of 4?
I’m guessing it’s down to the fact that the whole design of the airframe is compromised by a tri-jet setup, whereas on 2 or 4 engined liners it’s just a question of mounting the engines on the wing pylons ?
I don’t suppose that tail mounted 3rd engine is easily removed for servicing either ?
So I’m guessing that “foreign labour” is as much an issue in California as it is in other parts of the world.
And presumably the Mexicans of this debate are the same as the Pakistanis, Turks, Algerians, Croats etc of the European current situation, just the same as the Irish, Scots, Poles, English, Italians, Spanish.. you name it, were in past generations and economic times ?
I agree that a formal system needs to be implemented to regulate the use of foreign nationals in the work force, I also think that making them nationals or temporary nationals I.E. taxpayers, is important too. The biggest problem I see is that they are willingly employed to do the types of jobs that knowone else wants to do and that’s a global problem that perhaps we should be looking at a bit more seriously.
If knowone else wants these jobs within your particular country, then why shouldn’t someone else have a chance ? Someone mentioned mobilising American teenagers to get some life skills and do some basic jobs for a while. Wouldn’t that be better for the country than some thing like compulsory military service or similar schemes ongoing around the world ?

Can’t find a JMC coloured Tristar, but what about this for a hybrid scheme… Aer Lingus meets Caledonian. They should have formed a Celtic Airways or something like that.:D
I have to say the adrenaline rush was surprisingly noticeable on the A321, perhaps the slightly smaller size makes the difference.
Our heads were firmly pushed into the seatbacks, mibbe the crew were giving it a bit “extra”. 😀 It was BMI plane.
Thanks for the info, so is 6 hours considered to be a notional or official long haul minimum flight time. Is there an official time at all ? And if there is, are there extra regulations that apply to the aircraft such as ETOPS to name but one ?
That response from me above was in reply to Andrew’s question about there being any JMC painted planes left. I should have used a quote to clarify. As for JMC Tristars, I’ll have a look for a pic.
I think Wys said there were just a few left, months ago. So probably none now. I certainly haven’t seen any, as much as I would like to.
A pleasant surprise came last night when an Easy 737 over-flew my house still in GO colours. (another livery of recent times I’ll miss)
The only thing I didn’t like about that scheme was the big “Air” graphic on the side. Other than that it’s the one recent livery I miss the most. Here’s my one and only flight with JMC at Gerona in June 2000.
