Some palm trees have been reported in Southern Scotland yesterday. To be continued …… 🙂
They’ve actually had palm trees on the Isle of Bute for years… In other weather news residents of the Greenock area are experiencing high winds. Apparently roofs have been blown onto some of the houses ! 😀

Yip, you sure can’t beat those black and white stripes !
Tell you what, I’ll make a canvas print and send you it as compensation. 😀
Ha ha, that’s great! I wonder if it’s got anything to do with the proposed Lion Air ? Nice to see Blue Sky Aviation taking such a “pride” in their fleet ! 😀
I wish !

You know what Ren, its the thought of them being old and tatty that would make going on them ‘different’.
I know what you mean Pembo. All that was missing on my flight were a a sick kid on a drip, a couple of nuns, a singing stewardess and a woman representing Wys’s banned avatar ! 😀
Look on the bright side though… At least you have a chance. My dream of flying trans-atlantic on Concorde appears to dead in the water ! sniff…:(
If you read further down that A.net post, someone has given the COA expiry dates for the My DC-10-10’s
G-TAOS- 21/9/03
G-DPSP- 26/10/03
G-TDTW- 29/11/03
And the DC-10-30 still has a while to go G-BYDA 29/3/05.
So it defo looks like the end of the 10’s is nigh. Mibbe the 30 will soldier on for a while yet ?
They’ll be saying the leaves on the tracks are too hot or something like that next. 😀
Is it also true that General Electric engines are more efficient in warm air than Rolls Royce. There was something in the Cargolux article in AW last month that alluded to that point ?
To be honest, apart from being able to say you’ve been on one, flying in a trijet is much the same as flying in a twin from a passenger perspective. The DC-10 I flew in with Airtours last year was once a great plane I imagine, but the years had taken it’s toll and things like toilets and air con malfunctions didn’t make for a pleasant crammed 4 hour flight full of screaming and puking kids !:D
As for how you go about getting a flight, well there are still some Tristars regularly doing UK holiday charters AKAIK, Don’t Air Transat still use them to Canada ? The MD-11 will be around for a good while as well. Maybe you could book a wee holiday through a local independent travel agent, the type that doesn’t have a “house” airline, like My, TCX etc. I see the odd Tristar and DC-10 at GLA over the summer period, so there must be opportunities to be had yet. 😀
Please note that the Braniff 747 will be released in a couple of weeks and you can pre-order the item at http://www.aviationretaildirect.com I’ve got my order in 😉
It won’t be a sad loss for the passengers though, they are falling to bits internally. I agree though that it’s a type that will be missed but it’s seen better days in the My Travel case.
This one any good ?
Hmmm…. another “whiteliner” 🙁
