I’m thinking about a trip to Cork by air as it’s one of my fave places in Ireland, my only downer in the past has been the driving time. It’s a very laid back and vibrant city at the same time, also less tourist dominated than Dublin.
For £40, I don’t care about the plane being untidy or whatever, as long as it’s safe to fly then you can strap me onto the wing for all I care.
I think BA do a direct service from Glasgow and Aer Lingus via Dublin ? Hmmm….. I feel a bit of credit card bashing going on.
The aircraft nearest the main road at PIK is a former Polar Air 747 and I’d imagine this is the one to be scrapped.
Here is a shot of the Belfast I took in May of this year.
Cheers,
I’ll be bringing my camera gear to the Manchester meet as well.

Don’t do it virtually, go do it for real – one of the truly great aviation experiences to be had in Europe. As wysi said on a different thread, Flight Sim is a very crude approximation of the real world – Barra, on one of those beautiful Hebridean days when the visibility is almost unlimited, is unbelievably gorgeous.
I quite agree. I’ve done the Barra landing and have spent a lot of time working in the Outer Hebrides, north to south. When the weather’s good, there’s knowwhere on earth quite like it.
A typical return flight from Glasgow to Barra by Loganair (BA) on the Twin Otter will cost you around £200, it’s worth every penny though.
One of the let downs of FS2002 is that they have a real runway at Barra instead of the beach approach. Naturally you can choose the beach anyway but it’s not the default airstrip as it is in real life.
I love out the window shots. I must dig through my box and find a few of my own…
Great stuff again Roger. 🙂
Right then, I’ll be ready and waiting to snap you on arrival Wys.
I’m flying to Manchester on July 10th, anyone else… ?
Fantastic shots again Roger. The Malev captain looks like he’s had a long day already. (lol)
I must find the time for a day trip to AMS myself soon.
Well It’s ok, I suppose, despite my loathing of the current “mainly white, no imagination” trend in airliner liveries.
I suppose it will make it easier to re style the planes for tech and winter charters.
Thanks ageorge, it all makes sense now.
I suppose having watched the documentary on the American Airlines A300 crash recently, I should have guessed the tail would be the quickest part of the manufacturing process.
Looking again at the picture, I’m guessing Rolls Royce supply the engines ready painted too ?
Still no pics of the Hooters air cabin crew attire then ?
What’s the score with tailwind landings/takeoffs ?
I watched a load of 737’s and similar sized planes take off into the wind at Prestwick one day and then two 747’s land with the wind behind them. One of the 747’s later took off in the same windless direction and once aloft did a complete U-turn to head off on it’s course INTO the wind ?
The 747’s were both freighters mind you, does this make for operational differences ?
I don’t know if they still plan to do this mind you ?
Actually I think this link may prove interesting in respect of Pan Am 2…
