I’m sure others will know much more about this, but as I recall the name and logo’s associated with Pan Am were purchased by a businessman in the “fire sale” following Pan Am’s demise.

He apparently (memory not too good) wanted to recreate the airline Pan Am, starting from scratch, more or less.

I really can’t recall any more than this. I read it in an aviation mag about ten years ago I think ?

Anyone else remember what happened ?

I’m getting the feeling an aviation photography Q+A session would go down well on here ? There’s lot’s of budding snappers on here now and we don’t mind the strict “experts only ” approach of the big sites like A.net and the like.

I enjoy taking plane pics, but I kind of get fed up with the notion that you have to be a “great photographer with great gear'” attitude the main sites take, no offence to the guys on here that produce those wonderful shots we all appreciate. I also enjoy seeing plane pics, taken by real plane admirers, no matter what the style, weather, light, framing, quality etc.

Every picture tells a story, as long as there’s a discernible aircraft in the frame then let’s see ’em ! I particularly enjoy the pictures on here that attach to a story or report about the flight(s) they relate to.

Let’s see more of them folks. Comments please ?
    🙂

Great pic, I notice tail planes always seem to be the first things painted up with Airbus and Boeing too. Are they manufactured, third party and therefore delivered already painted ?

There’s a story ongoing about the Heathrow Trident. Basically the Trident Preservation Society have had their airside passes stopped by the Health and Safety authorities denying them access to the plane they helped to restore, BA are also discussing the removal (scrapping) of the plane to free up some parking space.

Have a look on the guestbook for more info

That 747 was operating the 1730 service to Heathrow, some of my work colleagues were catching it, whilst I was catching the Aer Lingus to Glasgow via Dublin.

As far as I know they do ad-hoc charters and airlines hire them for tech cover too.
