Conversely, the US magazines available over here cater mainly for a US readership and also cost more to buy.

There’s nothing wrong with that, I actually prefer to read about the US airline industry in a US mag and the UK/Europe in a UK mag as it’s often written more informatively by local journalists. That said, I also enjoy the international correspondence such as from our forum regular Kabir.

As for the Thomas Cook article… Yes it does seem a little odd to have another feature so soon after the JMC cover story ? That’s one for the editorial team to sort out I suspect, rarther than it being a case of them pandering to a perceived strong interest in charter lines from the UK readership.

Maybe they intended it to be a two parter but forget to tell us. Or perhaps something else fell through at the last minute forcing them to find another feature right at the print deadline ? Stranger things have happened.

You can go direct to LAX or SFO, then connect easily to Oakland as an alternative to changing long haul flights in the US. Where in the UK do you plan to fly from ?

I had to buy a card reader to get the digital pictures onto my computer. This is a digital of the KLM UK Fokker by comparison to the scanned print above…

I took that pic at GLA last week, and there was one there yesterday which I viewed from the M8 whilst driving past. I think (will need to check) it does mail/newspaper runs out of Luton to UK airports.

It must have looked pretty impressive all the same. Of course letting the New York authorities know might have been impressive as well. I fancy someone in ATC getting their collar felt over this one .

I never noted the reg owing to it being dark and the use of air bridges. In fact the only glimpse of the exterior I got was the middle engine viewed through a tiny window in the air bridge.

The route though was Gran Canaria to Manchester and it was DC-10-10.
