Be a shame if it does move on. Having read aeroplane recently, i wonder whether this new scheme at duxford where all the working planes have to be In T2 and T3 have anything to do with it? Anyway they have a TF51, P40B, P47G and Spit XVIII on the way so who knows?
whats has happened to grumpy?
any news on what the future holds for the ex TFC machine, B25 grumpy? it seems to be sitting waiting at North Weald for nearly 3 years gathering dust. I thought Paul Allens flying heritage collection had bought it? Have they now sold it on?
i think the b25s were ‘russels raiders’ (Swiss based) and like you said ‘Sarinahm’ of the Duke of brabant air force.
i also notice he has a nice selction of spits at his disposal!
Now what shall i take out today? the mk v, mk ix, mk xiv or mk xvi?
what a choice!
Tom Blair
Is he gonna operate some of his colletion in the uk on a permanent basis, or is it all eventually going to be operated in kissimee?
lets all start chipping in………. always fancied a mk IX in day day stripes.:p
looking slick.:D
anybody know if the above two will be arriving in the spring now?
Should be an exciting year next year with the the arrival of the above 2 and hopefully the completion of the gladiator and cr.42.
i wonder whether there is also another hurricane planned somewhere in the pipeline?
any idea what has happenned to the fw190, me 109 and stuka? has the legendary hairyplane acquired them as well?
Another milestone for the shuttleworth team. its great to see guys like peter who are prepared to keep these machines not just in the air, but also on these shores.
well played old chap
No, Damyns hall is more Rainham than it is Hornchurch and is probably 2 miles south of where the old aerodrome was. i was parked down there earlier on in the summer, where i watched a display by a harvard that was visting and the locally based stearman. Fantastic stuff.
i beleive the farmer has a fascination with historic aircraft so who knows what may come and go.
Now, don’t get me wrong, but if everyone reads the bbc report which was linked earlier in this thread, isn’t that speculation?
Good to hear the 2 pilots are ok, and i’ll echo what was said about the emergency services. Well done Duxford.
so does anyone have a definative list of the airframes doug arnold had and where they all are now? i assume some may be crated up at the weald, going by the fact the new tfc spit and p-47 were there for years.
I can’t believe you guys are unhappy with the sale of the B-25 and the advertising of the Beaufighter and Tigercat.
Stephen Grey is a very devoted enthusiast to who we should be very grateful.
I can remember when having 2 Sptires at an airshow was a real luxury ,the continued growth of The Fighter Collection has seen an array of beautiful aircraft that I never imagined I would see flying. Now let me ask you this ,imagine you have a car on your driveway and your driving licence is for some reason withdrawn so you can no longer drive it,
what would you do with it ?1. maintain it regardless of cost, MOT, tax ,insurance ,servicing etc,or
2. sell it and use the funds elsewhere .
This all that Mr Grey is doing, difference is ,you don’t get howls of protest if you sell your car ,so i’m saying look forward to seeing what TFC are preparing next rather than whining when one is put up for sale -the line up is impressive
Gladiator,Sea Fury,Fiat ,Spitfire XVIII ,P-40 ,P-47,no doubt an amazing collection on its own and apart from that where would they keep them all?
Read the post by Beaufighter VI about the struggles the week before legends and take that into account as well, Hmmm more respect for the work of Mr Grey and his engineers required I think .Steve
p.s enjoy them while they are here ,WE never appreciate what we have until its gone!!!
It was also confirmed the big cat was leaving in the flying legends programme. i also wonder whether the tfc have another hurricane in the pipeline, as it g-hury was only a couple of years old when it was sold.
Anyway well said regrading stephen grey. Its his money, he can do what he bleeding well wants with it!! what he is doing now is fine by me, as over the next few years i’m sure we will see many acquisitions. Remember, he may have other projects in the pipeline we know nothing about!
Anybody have any news if the alpine fighter collection hurri has found a new home yet?
