Looks like Neil Williams in MH434 ? If it is, it’s a tad sobbering looking at these wonderful pictures that Neil, Ormond Haydon-Ballie and Don Bullock are no longer with us, RIP.
What colour are they, dull PR blue?
Paint the fins NX she’s a late model Lanc so it would fit in nicely also it would be educational as how many people know the significance of such markings.:)
10 out of 10 for perseverence, it amazes me how these Germans keep having these landing accidents and then repairing them, makes you wonder about Black 6 dosn’t it?
Jeffrey Wellum’s 92 sqn QJ – K.
Hows the major service coming along Fluffy, no hidden snags I hope?
Another question is what happened to the 3 stub exhausts you were trialing on the fighters ? We noticed various fits last season and none were fitted at the Lincs Lancs day.
Mark Hazard well done, I forgot about the brilliant Neil Williams:o
I’m pretty sure that it is K5054 as their is some pretty none standard Spit Mk.I stuff in that cockpit.;)
Great to see her in the air at last, it was just a pity that wasn’t at last years Legends, mind you not for the want of trying. Well done Jim Beasley, TFC and Mark 12.
Operational pilot Johnny Johnson
Test pilot Alex Henshaw
Modern day pilot Paul ‘Major’ Day.
Blimey !!! sorry guys to have opened a can of worms, Mackrel I see your side of the argument but they have teamed up with the other Mag for an enthusiasts day a couple of years ago, maybe they could put on other similar paying days. The other side of the coin is why should they? But as a public relations exersize I feel it would be benificial to us who pay money to see the finished article at airshows up and down the country, its good to see their finished Spitfires in the air but how many times have we been to Duxford and wondered what is happening in Area 51. When the the articles in Flypast come out we all slaver over them the same as when the book Spitfires And Polished Metal came out, it is one of the big pulls of Duxford to us enthusiasts that we go back again and again to see how restorations are coming along and how these great aircraft were put together.:(
Clive Rowley who was c.o. of the Lightning Training Flight moved onto Tornado F.3’s at Coningsby and became c.o. BBMF, he is now a guide at the BBMF visitor center and flies Grob Tutors as a reservist at Cranwell.
No I havn’t bought it yet, maybe in the morning, anyone got a photo? I have to agree that the secrecy of Area 51 is bemusing. Why not have open days like the Sir Micheal Beetham Center at Cosford does
Very nice indeed, I agree that the BBMF’s IIa would look good as Al’s 54 SQN Kiwi.
A mate of mine reports that a large piston engine aircraft flying over Uttoxeter – Derby area on Sunday 11th did anybody else see it and what was it???
I put my e mail in when the BBMF’s web site posted the news item, i got a confirmation but have heard nothing since. Only 400 measly tickets! If like me you attended the 50th in 1993 the valley was full of people so why only 400 bl**dy tickets, sounds like another local authority ba##s up to me. Oh and I’ve lost a days holiday because of it.
A very pi**ed off Spade Grip.
