Nice 401 sqn.RCAF scheme on BL628, is this an accurate scheme that she wore during the war? I like the five spoke wheels, makes a nice change.
Sorry Miggers, Yakriders got it spot on, gold star for that man well done!!!
Hope the Dak and the Lancaster are mended in time, if last years members day was anything to go by we should be in for a corker.
Invasion striped Dakota over Newcastle-under-Lyme at 18.00. it was heading west and at quite a low level, past right over the house and caused pandamonium as my 7 year old son and I both bolted for the door upon hearing it!!! 😮
R.I.P. to a legendary “Bomber Baron”:(
A great Sea Fury, its a pity we don’t see it around as much as it sould:(
First airshow was at Blackpool in the mid 70’s, BBMF Lanc was there as KM-B and was with Spit AB910 as QJ-J and I think Hurri PZ865 as DT-A (red and white spinner). Neil Williams displayed MH434 with the codes AC-S (Adrian C Swire). I hate it when Yanks call everything awesome but Williams’ display sticks in the mind over 30 years later, AWESOME 😀 😀
Sorry no more info but I’ve just seen the You Tube footage and to see an authentic Spit Ia running her Merlin up was fantastic. Has AR213 been fitted with the proper mark of Merlin ie. Mk II or III?
Were those Spit 24’s over Hong Kong at the beginning of the film?
Fond memories of Weston Park when I was a kid / teenager, it will always be dear to me as I met Douglas Bader there one year, I can’t remember the year it could be 1980 or 81 but I remember he took the salute at the start of the flying display which was carried out by Spitfire Mk. IIa P7350 of the BBMF. Also in the display was Spencer Flack’s red Hunter Mk.51 G-HUNT.
Haaa happy days.:) 🙂
Iain I’ve just seen your Spit film and was blown away by it!! The quality of sound with the Merlin and William Waltons Spitfire Prelude brought a lump to my throat, so Iain thank you very much and be rest asured I’ll be playing it over again for a long time to come.
A very good production, probably the best BBMF film I’ve seen well done to everyone concerned.:D
Now remember these code words,Trigger is for a breach in the Mohnne, Rodney is for a breach in the Eder and Uncle Albert for the Sorpe!!!!!!!!!!
