Unlike some big four engined warbird owned by the RAF Peter Vachers Hurricane will be at Cosford.
That Spit in EN380s photo was either going somewhere far or just come back(Spain ?), it’s fitted with a slipper tank.;)
Eddie, no Dinghy Young wasn’t a Yank but Joe Mcarthy was a Yank serving in the RCAF. Joe had to take the spare Lanc when his went “tech” and proceded to the Eder dam alone, he carried out an attack on the Eder but no breech was observed. Dingy Young didn’t return he was shot down by flak on the run home.

I bet no one peed on the tail wheel for good luck!;)
Does anyone know who flew what on the day?
New one on me, I don’t think I’ve ever seen that scheme, nice though.
Here, Here, Black Night, also it would be nice for her to take up her old registration of G-AIDN.
Greetings Miggers, I’ve already ordered the cement for the hard standing,Wing Co Ken has also started his conversion course.:diablo: :dev2: :p
Simply breathtaking:)
This Spitfire is the only T.8 built, the prototype for the Spitfire trainer and the only Spitfire prototype in existence. Say your prayers tonight that she returns to where she belongs, in Britain.
I’m buying lottery tickets by the wheel barrow load!!!!!:D
To what extent is AR213’s Major service (if thats the right way to term it), is she going to reappear with an earlier Merlin (Mk.II or III) and a 3 bladed prop, and is she going to have an early type external bullet proof windscreen,or is this beyond Sheringhams finances?
It would be nice to see an accurate Mk.Ia Spitfire, and indeed it will be nice to see AR213 as this is the only airworthy Spitfire in Britain that I’ve never seen!
Thanks Fluffy, it’ll be good to see Morcambe and Wise again.:diablo: 😀
BBMF say that for the mass flypast they will need extra current pilots to fly all the fighters, do we know who the guest pilots will be? I would have thought Bob Judson and Shiney Simmons would fit the bill as they are still RAF. and both still pretty current.
I also noticed from HAC’s web site that Shiney is missing from their pilot line up this year, surely one of the BBMF’s more carasmatic ex pilots needs to be displaying warbirds.
Yes the all black Ian Gleed night fighter scheme was great and also very popular but time moves on and people get bored of seeing the same thing time after time, you only have to read on this forum how the scheme changes that have occured on the BBMFs Spitfires, the Lancaster and the Shuttleworths Gladiator have been recieved. If an historic fighter isn’t painted in its original service colours (as Spitfire MH434 is) then the licence to paint it sky blue pink if the owner wishes is a valid one.
Here endeth the first lesson!!!!
Thanks Fluffy for a fantastic Thread. It’s kept me wanting more throughout the winter months and now the season is nearly upon us. So heres wishing all of you at BBMF a happy 50th year and a very memorable season.
P.S. Does AB910 sound different with her new cans and what has the Boss got to say about her?
