Normally India gives equipment to Vietnam on friendship prices. IMHO LCA too will be offered at friendship rates.[/QUOTE]

Some might think that Vietnam never bought anything from India, but in the past the VPAF have actually secured spare parts for its MiG-21s from HAL, so there are a good chance the Indians would offer the LCA to Vietnam at “friendship” price. But off course, that is only one side of the armstrade, the Indians know that an arms race is occuring in SE-Asia and is taking advantage by trying to armaments to Vietnam.

Depends how far in the world do you want to consider “Asia”. There was a post in CDF that proved other wise.. you had Russians born from the Asiatic side of Russia that been into space long before Pham Tuan, and if those don’t count, then you had those “Asian looking” ethnic minority Cosmonauts that already went up before the 80s.

Pham Tuan happen to be Vietnamese, not an ethnic in Russia, he was the first VPAF pilot to shoot down an American B-52 during the VN WAR, if you want, you can check up his name on the search engines.

Who was the first Asian in space?

Pham Tuan of Vietnam was launched into orbit in July 1980, making him the first Asian in space.

How so Canpark? The Typhoon has even less internal fuel than the F-35A. Why ham-string your fighter force with another fighter type which would stretch your limited tankers even further, and create more logistical chain headaches.

Well……..Its only a suggestion, but the idea suddenly come to mind.

The latest trends are include a desire to get rid of the entire air arm (at least fixed-wing transport aircraft) and replace them with civil contractors. (This is already happening)
As for their current orbat, that’s hard to know, some UH-1’s, a couple of Nomad’s and maybe two CN-235’s are probaly the only aircraft that are even close to being operational.

    BALMAIN

    Thanks for the update, BALMAIN.

Obviously the Arrow would be good against the Scuds, but what about the Iranian Shahab.

Beside from the F-35, I think Australia should also go for the Eurofighter 2000, from my point of view this aircraft would form a formidible force in the RAAF.

Keep the pictures coming guys. I love the Super Etendard picture, and the Jaguar pictures are a nice rarity on this forum.

Still there’s something missing from this thread……….but I shan’t say more about it. 🙂

I’ll try some patience this time. 🙂

I agree, I really love the Super Etendard and Jaguars!

Taiwan and South Korea are the two biggest investors in Vietnam. The government there is very corrupt as we all know. Money runs the government in Vietnam. So if there are any military purchases. And if Russia can not meet Vietnam’s need. I would say The Koreans or Taiwanese will win the next contract. I would go for the IDF fighter. It’s a great BVR fighter that’s very underated by people here.

The VPAF equipped with AIDC Ching Kuo?

I really like the idea, in fact, I think its a good substitude for the MiG-21!

Instead of the VPAF replacing it’s Russian Yak-52s with the South Korean KTX-1, how about the ‘LASTA’, it is a new basic trainer made in Serbia, but I forgot to post the picture of this aircraft at the time of writing this next post.
