Well, good for the Swedes and hurrah for the Czech. Wise choice, IMHO.
… assuming IN couyld afford it and would prefer it over capacity to home-build a carrier
team effort:Tiornu’s English clue “Royal Holland Lloyd” led me to “Koninklijke Hollandsche Lloyd” which led to the pic
And the winner is …
So can the Kilos fit Brahmos onto them?
No. That is, not unless they are cut in half and a plug with vertical launchers is inserted between the two alves. Brahmos has a diameter of 670mm which is larger than the largest torpedo tubes (650mm) currently in service in the world (used by Russia and Israel). By contract, the smaller diameter Club-S can be fired from normal 533mm torpedo tubes. Of course, a subbased vertical launcher could also be used.
I tried to make out the orange/red marking on those locomotives to get me a clue as to the railway company and hence the country. But frankly, no idea!!!
Fitted with 2×12 VL Shtil front and rear, the Type 52B would make an excellent and relatively low-cost GP destroyer, especially if backed up a Type 54A variant with 2×12 VL Shtil and 2xType 730 CIWS to increase commonality for logistical purposes. A further enhancement of these would be to equip the Type 730 with TY90 missiles. Onwards to series production!
With the F16 reaching the point where it can no longer be substantially improved – esp. where airframe and wing loading is concerned – perhaps a co-developed F16/F2 SuperKai hybrid would be an interesting option, particularly in view of the latters bigger wing.
Another Iranian UAV (with yet another in the background)
Huh? what do u mean there is no plans to make tube launched brahmos only VLS launched for submarine purpose.
“A single round is 9 m long, 670 mm in diameter and weighs more than 3000 kg including a 300 kg warhead. A submarine based launch complex would consist of canisterized missile rounds, container launchers, loading devices, ground support and training equipment. “ (source).
Lets keep in mind that the largest diameter torpedo tubes currently in service are 650 mm (25.6 inch). These are in service only with the Russian and Israeli navies. Whereas Brahmos can’t be fired from any existing tubes, Klub can be fire from regular 533mm (21-inch) torpedo tubes as well as VL units.
The Jeanne d’Arc is to remain in service untill (through) 2006 and will eventually be replaced in her role by one two new BPC (Mistral & Tonnerre) that are currently under construction
” Le navire devrait rester en service jusqu’en 2006 et être remplacé à terme par l’un des deux nouveaux BPC Mistral et Tonnerre actuellement en construction. “

I wouldn’t reactivate the Iowas…….WAY too manpower intensive……..aren’t the new DDX “destroyers” supposed to have 155mm guns? I would propose some sort of new “gun cruiser” (CA) with 2 to 4 8in guns or 6 to 8 155mm guns and decent AA missile systems……..
We had a discussion about the Iowas in another thread recently, I remember reading something recently stating that most personnel would be unretired retired Navy personnel and contracted specialists. The draw on the navy’s current pool of trained personnel would be small, equivalent to crewing 1 Arleigh Burke. The cost of reactivating the BBs is about that of two Arleigh Burkes.
Free trade zones and special economic zones are those parts of the Iranian territory that are managed according to special laws and bylaws and are excluded from the laws of the governing motherland. These zones are excluded from the domain of the custom authorities and enjoy the full freedom for the in and out flow of goods and commodities. Special Economic Zones are exempt from national laws deemed restrictive and the available incentives include fifteen year waivers of corporate individual taxes, minimal customs duties and restrictions on the movement of capital, no limitations on foreign investment and guarantees against nationalization.
Hahahahaha cheater 😛 But you are right, ok now for the extra points, why is this place special???
Special economic zone where foreign investment is encouraged by giving various incentives, accounts for 75% of imports shipped into Iran through the strait?
 figures!
Snake65 … I stand corrected!
