u asked, I answered. I don’t make Brazil take anything 😉
I would say Sweden
and other smaller countries, like Norway and The Netherlands.
When Brazil became a junk yard?
SInce 1979 when Brazil, with United States cooperation, negotiated a $70 million contract for purchase of twenty A-4KU and three TA-4KUs from Kuwait. Re-designated AF-1 and AF-1A, respectively, the ex-Kuwaiti Skyhawks arrived in Brazil in early September 1998 and were placed in overhaul maintenance status for significant upgrading. The upgrading program is continuing and AF-1 and AF-1A aircraft are currently operational in Brazil. On January 18, 2001 an AF-1 Skyhawk successfully landed aboard the aircraft carrier Minas Gerais and later successfully catapulted, making Brazil’s carrier force operational.
Wanshan: Despite what the reports say, not all of those TNI-AN ships are in service, I know for a fact the there is one gutted out and used as a fire training ship!
Wouldn’t surprise me: spares are getting scarce
If you have excellent pictures, can’t you pick an object with known dimensions and compare? For example, the canisters for emergency rafts or satcom on these pics of IN Kashins?

At the risk of showing my age I’ve got to say that I’ve got a bit of a soft spot for the Leander Class Frigates …..
Same for the 6 ship Dutch Van Speijk class, currently under Indonesian management.

Maybe the Singaporees could be generous… ask nicely?
Pass them on to Brazil!
Buy the USS America for peanuts. There are several airwings worth of F-14Bs and so forth in the boneyard waiting for someone who wants them.
Ok and then what? Then you have good but old stuff. How long will this have to last and at what operating and maintenance costs?
Tell me this is PSed….
… well, with those folks standing in front of the PA … that’s though PS-job to do … may well be the real thing.
That was quick! A worthwhile upgrade. I’m looking forward to seeing more pictures of that handy work as it becomes available. On Delhi class: was the EW equipment that sat where the Elta’s sit now relocated or removed alltogether?
Wanshan.. all three have received baraks… Delhi/Mumbai/Mysore..
I knew all three were slated to but not that they all got it already. How’s progress for the Godavari class (beyond INS Ganga)? Will we see Barak on Brahmaputra’s as well and, if so, when?
So, for Mysore, this is a port-side view from the front, correct? There remains an AK 630 in the rear position on each side? And the Elta FC radar controls that as well, right? I see that the Elta’s are placed further outboard than the original Bass Tilts: better coverage?
But look, Mysore has it too!
Excellent pic! However, I was under the impression only the first of class INS Delhi had already received Barak. You are positive this is Mysore?
The initial discussion was about the nose probe. What I inquired about and what I got a reply to was indeed about the entire nose cone. Foldaway cone now also suggested for Mig29K mod for IN. For comparison…
Excellent Himanshu! Thx
