Is this a bit of a change for the MOD as they seem to have given the Boscombe Down collection quite a lot of artefacts and airframes?
Is Bruntingthorpe not an option?

Made by A.V. Roe’s at Woodford in 1954. It would be mine if I had the money 🙁
Good addition for Manchester viewing park?
WV838, candidate for Liverpool? Good example of North west aviation heritage or indeed Royal Navy.

See the link for all your mode s questions. I think there’s a fair bit more than 50% of airliners equipped!

Did I read some where that the Intrepids example is available?

Deadline passed, let’s hope for good news.

Latest newsletter says that a German museum may be interested.

I was thinking more of airframe spares resulting from the parting out of the aircraft pre-scrapping.
J man
Anyone know the latest?
I see on pprune that a person who attended the Cosford forum with Dr Pleming makes reference to Woodford having more spares available now. Is this tied in with the alleged scrapping?

The fate of all Vampires that are left outside…..

Don’t know if this link is of any use.

Mornin’
Was it reaching for the skies?
I watch in awe every time I see Mr Hoover do his airshow routines.

Great news. Let’s hope that no other obstacles get in the way. Interesting to see on webcam that 558 was rolled outside yesterday.

All,
I’ve read on another forum that the collection is under threat due to a hike in rent. Anyone know anymore?

Landraver, I would never want to dampen anyones enthusiasm mate.
603 is still in one piece as of Monday when I drove past.
I find it odd that there’s the active Bae North West Heritage Group at Warton yet the same kind of activity is being frowned upon at Woodford. 🙁
J man
at least BAE are talking about XM603, has anyone spoke to elvington? ( i do not know if elvington is one of those interested parties) no point in cutting her up – nose sections dont fly, i guess there are people who think small stactic displays in museums are better than flying exibits that the whole country can benefit from, hope this wont be the case. not everyone can travel to manchester and who would want to for a nose section kids end up climbing about in?
You’re surely not suggesting that ‘603 could fly?? Does everyone live nearer Elvington than Manchester? I never mentioned kids clambering over exhibits, I was suggesting preserving items rather than scrap the whole airframe. Who last moved a dis-assembled Vulcan over distance and re-assembled it?
Let’s stay realistic here….
