The Aussies seem to have mellowed down somewhat in recent years from the pavlovian anti-indianism of yore.
🙂
> Wow thats realy impressive
cant be too many at present who operates UAVs 100s of km away from the shore (heron)
and how many nations can send a plane to fly from india to cape of good hope and pickup a ship possibly attacking it if necessary with a torpedo 🙂
very few. IN Bears have even been spotted near Darwin which led to a bunch of Aussie handwringing and accusations in early 1990s :diablo:
can someone explain the benefit of the gigantic “airbus beluga” or “guppy” type radome on the french ship ? quite a unique feature.
they have not, the navy’s official page has it.

part of the 67 ships massed in vizag for president’s fleet review. they also wheeled in 40 aircraft and 3 submarines. it is held only once in 5 yrs.

the LCA can take a radar of 600mm diameter or slightly bigger. its nose and fuselage is fat and not slim/elegant like the M2K/early F16s.
just one F-16 engine surely implies taking it apart and studying the insides, not for any real use. they could have waited a while and got a free F16-blk50 sample from their “all weather ally” :diablo: and they will get it now that plan-A didnt work.

but looks like they still want to use them, else they wont bother. I guess it would be easier to “misplace” a couple from other blackhawk users like turkey than shipping them from US though and 70 is a huge number..no way anyone can fudge that.
and stealing cruise missiles from the US ?? perhaps they were more interested in picking a couple of Williams engines…
No 🙂
Harry counted the number of T/X modules in the EL2052 demo and came up with ~1200 (can anyone recount in the photo above :)) and the design goal is track 64 targets.
LCA will have to deal with F16-50 with APG68v9 radar and the improved radars on PLAAF flankers as the baseline. they cant afford to go small n cheap – needs a full featured high powered (and costly) radar.
How many Mirage2000 would the french be willing to sell ? Russia doesnt operate the Mig29 anymore and they werent very durable to start with.
So unless the French are going to offload around 100 Mirages starting in next few yrs your proposal wouldnt work. there would need to be extensive upgrades and operating them for just few yrs wont be cost effective…they need to be lethal not just for flying practice.
I have never heard of this Vixen500E. cant be too good else why would EF wait for AMSAR. sounds like a poor mans mee-too AESA soln they are trying to peddle ?
it will be bad for a SSN to kill a helo and advertise its position if other helos or ships are close nearby. useful if its cornered and out of sea room to escape.
the next gen of LRMP a/c will not be flying low in the water but at 15-20kft. they were testing a guided capsule that descends to a setpoint and release a torpedo.
Shhhh…. you arent supposed to say that!
