Hi All,
This is nothing to do with the original question, but thought I’d ask whilst all the camera experts are on this thread!
Does anyone know of a safe method to clean dirt etc off of negs and slides? my scanner removes some but not all, and my scans are terrible.
MCAS El Toro California mid 19 nineties?
I get all my printing done by COLAB, reasonable price with discount for quantity, reasonable turnaround, good quality prints. Recommend them to anyone.
Relative found
An article in my local paper, The Evening Echo, dated 9th December states that the younger sister of Sgt. John Charles Burdett has been traced living in Laindon, Essex.
The paper also said another lead had been provided by a reader who said he used to work with a man called Albert Cooper whos son Norman, died in an RAF bomber, could this have been Sgt Norman Cooper? He explained that Albert, who died in the 1960’s, had remarried and had two children through his second marriage named David and Rosemary. So they are wondering if any of the Cooper family still live in South Essex. It also appears that Sgt Cooper’s final address was in Hampshire because he was staying with a relative there.
Hope this information helps in your search.
Thanks for the info about the Seafire and F-86. My fiancee was also on the chase plane. Is there any chance of getting a copy of the film you have, maybe converted to VHS, happy to cover any expenses.
It was, although if I remember correctly (it was a long time ago) we were lucky not to lose more, considering their condition.
We had a lot of fun working on the Lanc at Hullavington that year, does anybody know what happened to the F-86 and Seafire that also went to Blackpool (by road), these were the original nucleus of the proposed museum.
I use a Nikon D1x and D100, mostly with a 70-200 AF-S lens, unfortunately someone nicked all my camera gear from my hotel room whilst I was helping to look after the TFC aircraft at RIAT, so it has taken me a while to replace it. But I will post some of my pics soon.
I met Neil at Hullavington when he crashed the Zlin, I happened to e in the Naafi and was called out with the ambulance, fortunayely he didn’t need my services! But I was lucky enough to fly with him when John Roast took Lancaster NX611 down to Blackpool, and the memory of sitting in the rear turret whilst Neil did a high speed low level run over Lake Bala will always stay with me. He really was one of the best!
