Majority of this clip is ‘Delta 83’ from around 1959/1960. The B2 flying over the camera to land at the end is taken from ‘617: Last Days of a Vulcan Squadron’ from December 1981.
Depends if it works properly or not.
There not expecting anything major, but I think with the complexity of this aircraft, I would be amazed if there were no little hiccups to be ironed out…
Avro 698 first flight August 1952
Or, Ascension in May 1982 to see the departure, and the return, of Black Buck One
Welcome gentlemen!! 🙂
None of the windows have been breeched, although some are close. If only we could get replacement glass all round. The vandals have even managed to smash the upper periscope glass…..
Speak to Avro Heritage and TVOC, I think 558 has had her glass replaced…;)
Or some strategic machine gun placements…..:diablo: :diablo: :diablo: :diablo: :diablo:
Is this better as a problem for the police to handle off the cuff
It won’t be a problem if nobody knows…
…or would it be better for TVOC to say that the Vulcan should fly between date X and date X and arrange a safe viewing spot some distance away?
…and ‘waste’ more hard earned money, especially on Police presence to control and disperse the ones who don’t get a space in the viewing area….
At least that would give the public the chance to see her safely as opposed to a complete scramble outside Bruntingthorpe as people rush down as fast as they can into the area and cause traffic problems.
The exact reason in the first place that they aren’t telling anyone about the first flight.
My ‘bitterness’ is due to the way the project has been handled. If you want to know how much she costs to operate -how much to book her for an airshow….
…then get off your ar5e and phone them direct at the hangar. Ask for the likes of Denis Parker and he will tell you everything you need to know as opposed to ridiculous speculation.
Here’s a little common sense for you…
Is this in another post?? I think it’s been deleted…
So long as something loud roars in the night, and lights twinkle, everyone is happy.
Except the CAA who issue the permit to fly based on Visual Flight Rules Only, so no night flying.
I heard they will do the first flight at night, taking off on just two of the four engines to keep the noise down, and not alert freeloading spectators
😀 😀 😀 😀 😀
Little scumbags… 😡 😡 😡
DON’T PHONE TODAY, as they aren’t there!!! Tuesdays and Thursdays only. 😉
Your enthusiasm cannot be faulted. You’re right, she is worth saving and I, for one, hope everything comes to fruition. Can any of 603’s panels or things like undercarrige bay doors etc be used in her restoration?
😮 😮 😮 😮 😮
My god, you have your work cut out there…..
If you want answers, and I know this method works, the best thing to do is to phone them up today as they are there until approx 2pm or 3pm I think. They will tell you everything you wish/need to know, hopefully when she is going and what will be going where. They should talk to you about the situation. The number is 0161 955 4182 and just ask for Avro heritage. 😉
By the way, I think decisions are about to be made regading the cockpit etc, so be quick, unless you work for a scrappy…..
Which Vulcan is it that is to recieve your lavish attentions? 😉
