Found those pics….wings aren’t really in bad shape, ,probably easily fixed….wonder which plane they came off of..?

Hmmmm…a number of years ago (about 5) when I was at the CAF show at Midland, we were digging around some parts and pieces and we came across a rather battered wing with tire rubber smears on it and the stars and bars still intact, and it was from a P-47 (4 gun ports, kinda confirmed it)…that must be the one they’re using…wonder if I can find the pic?

I have a conviction for bouncing checks back in the late 80’s….5th degree felony, bounced about 10 grand worth of checks, spent two years on unsupervised probation, spent one night in jail, got most of my bond money back (about $9500) paid back $500 in restitution….but having a tough time finding a decent paying job now with that on my record….it was all worth it at the time and fun then, but it haunts me now!
Live and learn…

It’s very slick in Aspen these days…..even the celebrities fall on their asses on occasion…
One of the reasons I snowboard, one does’nt leave wreckage all over the hill when one takes a spill….much easier on the knees, too….older Sea Fury pilots might want to take this into consideration to prevent FURTHER skiing injuries…

I find it interesting how many folks from the UK seem to really love this show! It is great, but I have to wonder if it isn’t winding down….been on for what, 15 years now? Quite the run…
Mark
Reckon that’s the one, don’t know that they HAVE another one…it would be a miracle, but I’m told (and I heard) that the CAF planned on repairing it…

Forgot to mention, asked about the CAF P-47 and how it was coming along, he said that while he was at Midland last year he talked to some folks who told him it should be flying by some time this summer….let’s hope they’re right!
It had Nick Nolte in it and Jackie Bissett…not great, not bad…not surprised, either, that it’s being remade….would much rather see Benchley’s other ocea going novel NOT shark related made into a flick, “The girl of the sea of cortez’.
How long, ya reckon, with today’s technology, before they take on JAWS again?

That IS a great Zero story, Tim….funny how time changes things and we now look back at the Zero as a revered fighter plane and piece of history, a brilliant design at one time that is now considered a collector’s item…I would’ve done the same thing, told the guy what a great plane it was despite me being a Corsair fanatic because I respect what the Zero could do and how it had us on the run in the early years of the war…bet that old guy got a kick out of your acknowledgement of the plane.

Kind of a sad thread if you ask me, so much precious metal just rotting away….and to think when the USS Carl Vinson returns from her current deployment, her F-14’s will join these pictured and be the last F-14’s to have flown with an active Naval squadron…
Fascinating but sad photos….I’d like to visit the place someday.

Looks to me, from the shadow on the aft end, like it’s SITTING on its propellors…probably banged them up, too!
Mark
A noble gesture, sir….might I contribute a pint of your favorite lager to YOUR favorite charity when next I appear ‘across the pond’?
Mark
Appreciated, but this was just a joke thread to liven things up…truth be told I’m surrounded by Corsairs, some of which I built, some Corgis, some LARGE metal ones, and a 1/18th scale monster sitting on a table next to me (see the ‘pets’ thread on ‘general discussion’)…and an unfinished 1/48 scale birdcage Tamiya U bird on top of my monitor….this many birds, I’m lucky they don’t crap all over the place….
Anyway, I would’ve vought you’d be sick of this thread by now…
Mark
Ok, that deserves a ‘DOH!’
HA!
