I had a great 2004…wrote two different articles for a couple of aviation magazines, both paying gigs (finally), got paid for one I wrote 2 years ago (finally), had a VERY active dating life this last spring/summer, saw Deep Purple and Joe Satriani with Thin Lizzy this summer, had a few good fishing trips to the mountains…got my Jeep fixed and it’s been running great…it was just a good year over all….anyone else?

It was a number of years ago at Midland and the Blue Angels were the guest jet team…seems they were very demanding and kinda hard to deal with…so some smartass (or a number of them) went in at night and changed up all the Blues beautifully done wheel chocks and put them under CAF planes, while the CAF’s old beat up, wooden chocks found their way under the F-18’s piloted by the Blues….from what I understand, they were NOT amused….but sometimes that’s what you get when you’re a pain to deal with!

Supposedly a lot of ‘the making of’ stuff…I would’nt know, I have the US version (which makes sense, since I LIVE in the US, just the basic movie on mine…) On the other hand, I have a DVD/VCR and love the thing…wonder if it would be worth removing the ‘region’ detector and ordering FL 2004 to see what I missed…but I still get to use my VCR movies instead of re-purchasing them all again on DVD…

Robbo…don’t take this the wrong way….but there is nothing in Wales to climb! You want to climb something (and I don’t mean some 3,000 foot high molehill) come on out here to Colorado, to the land of the 14’ers (14,000 foot) mountains, like Long’s Peak, Mt. Evans and Pike’s Peak…now THERE’S some climbing….bring oxygen! (Pictured-Long’s Peak with the B-17 ‘909’ flying by it…we’ll spot you the first 5,000 ft as you start at a mile above sea level anyway!)

Okay, a lot of those are from your OWN shores, Dog House…the idea in here is ‘what do you like from across the other side of the Atlantic’

Stick to the idea of the thread, please…we can ALL name off bands we like from our own countries elsewhere…

I would be one of them….maybe I’ll fast or nibble lettuce next time I come over. At least I can still see my toes.

Practical application aside, who would I speak Welsh to here in the states? What we need is more Americans who can speak spanish so we can converse with the influx of Mexicans who don’t speak English! But that is old hat, and I have no interest in learning Spanish, really…..it would just be fun to learn what is supposed to be our ‘native’ language (although we are also Scot, Irish and English with a smattering of other Nordic influences). Great…so now you all inform me that the main continent of the UK consists of England, Scotland, Wales…and Monmouthshire! Anyone have a flag for this small country? Anyone know who’s Prime Minister and do they yet have a Parliament? Historically speaking, one of the variations of the name Maur Rys, from which our modern name Morris comes, means ‘Great Chief’ or something of the like, going back to the last Welsh king…

The mushy peas on the fish and chips were tolerable…but I swear I thought it was Guacamole when I first saw it. Remember…they are only peas.

The pub near OW (Richard Shuttleworth’s old haunt) serves a good lasagna, last I tried it…but that was 3 years ago. My friend from the US had a ‘Spotted D1CK’..over here in the US that would be a BAD thing, so I abstained…but she said it was good.

The bacon sandwiches at Legends were good.

We cooked up some Australian steaks (thsi was during the beef scare a few years ago) and they came out alright, I might’ve overdone them a bit…but edible.

The ‘American Steak House’ near Duxford was a lot of fun, but the steaks were a bit thin…but a fun night there with Yanks and Brits anyway.

Cooked Fajitas one night for a party of seven, my host shoved a ‘fajita kit’ into my hands and said ‘There we go..all set’…I informed him ‘No’ and we made a return run to Morrison’s market in Stamford to pick up all the missing bits for Fajitas…it’s a fairly elaborate set up to do, but it was a good night…I realized I’d had a bit too much to drink when I yelled out the back door at a neighbor’s dog “RIGHT! That’s enough out of you!!” in my best British accent…stopped the whole dinner party cold, but got a “Good British Accent!” out of my host…still embarrassed over that one. Loud Americans, right?

Here’s the three flyers…only one shot ‘in air’ unfortunately, the rest did’nt show the plane to much advantage, but here they are….might have mixed up the CAF’s and the LSFM’s, but I THINK Lone Star’s is #5 and the CAF’s is S-9…could be the other way around tho….I KNOW the Air Museum’s is #39…Warbird directory #3 shows 25 airframes still extant including the flyers…

Noon here in Greeley, CO on the 18th of Nov and it’s sunny with high cloud, about 50 degrees F, not a bad day at all…canadian cold front coming this way, though, supposed to snow this weekend. (noon here means 7 pm UK time).

I’m cheating right now…I’m listening to a band from Kansas City that has Irish members and does Irish folk rock called The Elders…beautiful stuff, they have played in Ireland to rave reviews….http://www.eldersmusic.com.

    Bit of both worlds, really…
