And not to be too finicky…but you Brits are sticklers for detail, so I have to hold up my end…but ONE of your responses was KINDA correct…can you be a little more specific with what TYPE of whitetip shark it is? 😉
M
Snaps-Impressive! Although the one you mention above, while familiar, escapes me at the moment…
Now…how about the ones in the pics?

Some shark pics from the Denver ‘Ocean Journey’ a few years ago…pardon the light reflections in some of them, hard to shoot through plexiglass…some came out better than others..

Let’s see how good you guys are with your shark knowledge…a ‘shark Test’ as it were…I’ll throw out a few scientific names, you guys match up the real world name of the shark I’m talking about….
Negaprion Brevirostris
Carcharodon Carcharias
Prionace Glauca
Carcharhinus Falciformis
Carcharhinus Longimanus
Isurus oxyrhinchus
Galeocerdo Cuvieri
That should keep you busy for a while….meanwhile, I’ll dig through my shark photo files and see whats I gots…

The last Breckenridge, TX show, about 1996…the untimely demise of one of the great airshows (warbird) of all time…there were abot 9 planes on the ramp at a show that in it’s prime had about 140 on the ramp…way to go, FAA…
Mark
Amazing creatures, sharks…did some tagging while I was in the Coast Guard and was always fascinated with them…I have studied them until I know ALMOST as much about them as I do WWII planes…and that’s a LOT of studying!

If you like sharks, do a google search for Capt Frank Mundus, the ORIGINAL Quint from Jaws…he shark fished in Long Island sound for years and caught some serious monsters over the years…
Bruce the shark in Jaws was 25 feet long for the film…if they caught one 23 feet long, and I have no doubt they did at one time or another, that’s one BIG Carcharodon..NOT something I would want to be in the water with….the Great white I saw in Calif being offloaded from a boat was about the size of our aquarium friend here…

I applaud J Boyle’s comments and think QUITE a few people on this forum (no names mentioned) spend a GREAT deal of their time bitching about stupid sh*t instead of appreciating what some folks are trying to do out there in the world of warbird aviation….and these god-awful debates over whether a plane is original from parts actually used in it during it’s service life or whether the plane was built from the ground up (read OSCARS) with new materials to old specs…let’s get over that, huh? They’re kinda ridiculous….
Mark
270, in that case, good job saving the plane from running away from you and we look forward to seeing it up and about soon. And I still say those gear look frail and spindly, but hopefully once the tailwheel is fixed they’ll do the job they were designed for and keep the plane off the ground!

Hmmm…that shot of the MB 5 at the top of this thread features Jack Cronyn’s ‘Navy/Denver’ T-6 in the background….flew a photo mission with it last month…and then we have some Key Publishing employess with it as OSH 2003 as illustrated here…

Hey, is Ted Farrant still giving tours for the BBMF? He did when I visited 4 years ago, great tour guide…

In the states here tonight, they’ll be playing ‘Saving Private Ryan’ across the country on TV, but apparently even Janet Jackson has had an effect on that plan…hot on the heels of her little clothing malfunction at this year’s Super Bowl, the censors are all up in a wad over some of the language in the film, and some of the stations have decided to pull the plug on playing the movie in its entirety (ie unedited and uncensored) in fear of FCC fines for doing so….
Seems we can’t even give a television tribute without it being affected by today’s rules and standards and the actions of others, and fear of recriminations for OFFERING that tribute…
Mark
A long and continuing thank you to ALL vets everywhere….to my friends in the Coast Guard who I have just re-connected with here in the last couple of weeks and to all those who will never be known…a job well done around the world…
Mark
…and what fun they are….’scuse me, Mothra is at the door…
Mark
I was gonna guess that….but it woulda required a pint of Pedigree…
