Well, truth be told, the David Price at the top of the page (my photo) IS David Price, Nephew of David Price pictured in front of the Spitfire immediately above this post (pictured with Bruce Lockwood, left)…they are uncle/nephew, but in truth have NEVER met, which is Ironic, because I have taken David Price (top) with me to many airshows and he has STILL never met his more famous uncle…while I have met David Price, warbird collector, on three different occasions! To be fair, DJ Price, as we call him (David James Price, hence the DJ) is one HELLUVA guitar player in the Stevie Ray Vaughn vein and with his father (a drummer who once played for Carlos Santana…and is also named David Price) formed a band out here called ‘The Price of Blues’…

I know a bunch of the SoCal wing folks, I think they’ll take good care of it….just hope the luck that has befallen the other CAF Spits does’nt catch up with this one…

Interesting note from the show….talked to Bill Greenwood who was there with his Spitfire…it seems that sometime during the show Butch Schroeder’s P-47 got hit by lightning! It broke the pavement just under the rudder of the Jug, but the Jug itself, aside from a small burn hole in the fabric at the top of the rudder, was basically unaffected (there is a small ground strap on the underside of the plane that Butch said was a few inches shorter)…a thorough checkout of all electronics in the plane and all electrical systems and a check flight revealed all to be right with the plane….it seems that the lightning did’nt even hit the metal at the top of the vertical fin…just the rudder itself, which is weird…
Just thought I’d share that…looks like a typical Midland mixed weekend otherwise, one nice day and one cruddy….

Agreed, very much a dash 4 Corsair…and the paint scheme of the other Corsair, All blue with no discernable markings except the stars and bars definitely makes it look like a Black Sheep TV vet, probably just retired from the series at this point…
Great stuff….I have some similar stuff from 2 years ago out there, I should dig it out…

Beautiful stuff…all of it. Looks like it was a great close out to the airshow season…love the Spitfire stuff…the jets, and nice job with the airliner/SU-26 shot!

Drool slobber drool drool pant pant…..
James, read your story on the D day landing stripes, very good piece…had to part with the issue to a friend in Denver, am working on an article on a group in Denver called ‘AirPower West’ for issue 3, am about halfway through writing it now…and have shot some LOVELY air to airs for it….might have you peruse it before I send it in to Tim and Jim…whaddya think?

I hear you…on a recent photo shoot with a Mustang, it got a little too close for comfort vis a vis the Mustang’s prop and OUR wingtip…and out over the mountains of Colorado with the afternoon T-storms building! Still, got some great stuff out of it, shooting through windows and through small window openings without glass in the way…and truth be told, you really can’t tell the difference!

Fantastic news….always great to see another Hurri in the air….now if Ray Middleton would just finish the Lone Star example which I THOUGHT was gonna be up and running this summer, but apparently isn’t…

Hmmmm…must be a later model….I’m used to the one with the decking built up behind the cockpit, not a bubble canopied one….also the tail looks different…

Did’nt know the guy, he was from Parker, Colorado, south of Denver…sorry to hear about it and best to his family…
