Here’s one I could’nt squeeze on before, had to resize it a bit more…

I read something here recently that once all the B-17’s that are restored to airworthy or are SUPPOSED to be restored to airworthy condition are completed, there will be 19 of them (it was the FlyPast B-17 special issue) in the air if all goes well…
I don’t think they included this one…better up that tally by One!

I never saw this guy’s collection, never knew anything about it, heard of the guy only a few times here and there…always wondered where Howard’s old -5 Corsair went, would LOVE to know more about the P-40…this whole photo collection comes as a great and pleasant shock (although like anyone else I wish we got to see these planes more)…beautiful facility and nice to see them kept so well, that’s probably one of the nicest indoor line-ups (Seafire, Mustang, Corsair, P-40, T-6) I’ve ever seen…
Wow.

Oof! Looks more like the front end of a JU-86 than an 88! I knew there were no fliers in the world, otherwise we would’ve seen some flying JU-88 pics on this and other forums (not that I ever visit other forums…..cause I don’t….ever…..as far as you guys know….) Would love to see more flying German bombers tho, especially now with the unfortunate demise of the CAF’s recently repainted and gorgeous but now DESTROYED HE111…
Mark
Um….two flying JU-88’s in the world? Any one seen a Ju-88 flying around recently?

Daz-
They’re not as sharp as they look (except the silhouette one, it’s fine) We downsized them because of the bad lighting…it made them just SLIGHTLY blurry and you can’t really see it in the pics at this size…still, if you want ’em larger, give me an e-mail address or e-mail me at corsair166b@yahoo.com and I’ll upsize them for ya…

Koike does GREAT work at least as good as any other aviation artist…saw a coffee table book of his work once, incredible stuff (loved the Corsair)…
Maybe Google him and see what you get for images…
Mark
Incredible stuff…probably some of the best pics I’ve seen on here in quite some time….would love to see more! Must do this some day just for the heck of it, never have seen much of Canada and it’s only a few states away…
Mark
Escape hatch, German bomber, BofB…best guess…
Mark
Yeah…they got the Gandalf in question all wrong…it was Gandalf the WHITE, not Gandalf the grey that won Pearl Harbor and B of B and such…Gandalf the Grey did’nt have the power that Gandalf the white had…
Wish these stupid polls would get their facts right….

I would’nt want to live in a world where ‘characters’ like Board, Caidin and Hawke DID’NT exist…and thank god SOME of them still do. The alternatives make me itch.
I found ‘Everything but the Flak’ for $40 at Oshkosh last year and have’nt looked back since…one of the best buys I’ve ever made and my brother, who borrowed it over the holidays last year, LOVED the book and now understands the interest in warbirds from Caidin’s (and even my) perspective. Granted, most of the things they did back THEN aren’t done now….but these guys laid the groundwork for what is the warbird movement nowadays…to dismiss them as unsavory ‘characters’ is to say they are no longer relevant and their methods were madness. Possibly so, but the planes you see before you at Legends are there because these guys, way back when, gave a damn about them.
Mark
The guy was a character…and in a world where all the warbirds are being bought up by folks with not as MUCH character…I for one welcome his presence and now his ghost. The Aztec he died in may not have been a warbird…butyou can bet that he would have been glad to have died doing something he loved…flying. It was quite obviously his passion.

Earliest I can find, tho I’ve been to TONS of airshows, just never had many pics taken at them until recently….this one is from Breckenridge, 1991 I reckon, leaning against the ‘Family Plane’ (grandfather helped build Corsairs)…the Fort in the background is ‘Thunderbird’ from the Lone Star museum in Texas…
I’m ….27?….in this photo? 40 now….where’d the time go?

Archer-
Don’t know a Joe H. (what’s the last name?), the plane you refer to has been owned for as long as I can remember by Colorado Springs resident Jerry Flesher…in fact, it served as the photo ship for a great number of the other air to airs above, as well as the camera ship for Steve Bridgewater’s air to airs for ‘Today’s Pilot’ magazine last year’s Oshkosh edition featuring the Airvan on the cover. Jerry is a GREAT camera ship pilot and we’ve had many great missions together.
