RAF SUMBURGH was also connected to RCAF 404 Sqn and they flew mostly Beaufighters….

The lead car is a 1952 Studebaker Coupe. I didn’t know what the small green car is but it certainly looks Renault-ish.
The green car is a RNUR 4 CV (Régie Nationale des Usines Renault)
Nice 😀

The “RAF Ascot” in the frequncy list is almost certainly one of the call-signs used in the RAF world-wide HF SSB radio net. Main call-sign “Architect”. Ascot standing for Air Support Command Operational Transit.

Not being old enough to know for sure but I was given to understand, by a local, that small American planes flew from, what is now, the race course. Something like the Cubs, could this be true?
Have a look here

I seem to remember someone mentioning a visit on a previous thread – but when that was I couldn’t tell you. I also remember a lot of photos in an old European Wrecks and Relics book (published around 2000).
I used to live just over an hour’s drive away, but never knew it was there!

Guess it was Vickers Ltd. (1867–1927) later became Vickers-Armstrongs Ltd.(1927–1977)
…and a GE pic
Can someone Google-Earth it?
I`m not that computer literate!
