Silsoe is only about 45 minutes away so I’m risking a drive with a healthy time margin.

We have had this last week off so it feels like I know nothing but I’m doing rather well on Bristol.

They have DA42, which are “underpowered” plus you’d end up flying down to Cranfield every day anyway. Hold times are a big problem at Coventry too partly due to their lack of SSR and Thomson operations.

Used to own a part in a Jodel then a Maule, now sold off. I am a member of a non-for-profit flying club and can fly a Cessna 172 for about £85/tacho hour so that helps the budget.

Noooo, it is with grit, determination, a PC and some paper 🙂 Ground theory only this stage toward getting a commercial licence. I passed my fixed-wing private licence some time ago.

    You lucky b*****! anyway 😀

Not for the R22, being near the Tiger Club 😉

If we go classic, Hunter, Hawk and Vampire Mk1. Even Classic Flight’s Canberra knocks ours socks off at Coventry. Sabre F-86 dancing around the sky? Oh yes.

Modern? I quite like the English red and white of Virgin on a curvy A340 and it has four engines (mmmm).

I reckon by the time Boeing would have tweaked it, their scrapped SST would have been very nice indeed, perhaps better than Concorde (any votes for latter?)

It’s not you, BR, it’s an overly neglected arena of aviation in all, and a few are filling the gaps, some with the the real aircraft, some with books!

How about starting a definitive thread, “A Guide to British Interwar Biplanes”, complete with example photo and links to more descriptive websites?

Interwar biplanes have always been a grey area for me. 😮 Know any good websites/books so I can rectify my knowledge JDK?

Any thoughts on Billins vs Bonus, plus doing a CPL and/or IR at Cranfield? I need someone to “Crowe” on about it 😉

First flight I ever had with in a Dak from Baginton in G-AMRA. That day ‘SV was in for (I think) a C-check as the wings were off and the floors were up (late 1985). Sadly the Bristol Freighter was away that day though fellow classamates got a closer look two days later. Certainly caught my interest in flying…

Got any photos of the single Pin flying off a carrier or from Baginton?

Yup two new ladies so I hear. I guess the new red and white paint means a recover? Let’s hope the new flying jumpsuits are equally as sexy! yum yum

What happened to the other (N-reg) Dak it was living with at Lee?

    HANGAR

Wow…. is the 109 a flyer? Will the Cessna ever fly? Good to see some fabric on the Hawker! I think a pre-Christmas visit is in order before my FoD card expires.

So in a worst-case scenario what happens if an unpowered glider in the dying monents of its potential energy is forced to make a landing whilst a jump is taking place? Bit risky? What’s the SOP?
