Can we please stay off the rather slippy ground pertaining to someone’s circumstances and character, as has been highlighted above? If forumites can show restraint, then there should be no need to lock a thread. But we are watching.

    Thank you 🙂

    Hi R&M

This thread shows a panel photo of G-AJRB, a Auster 5J1, when it was still airworthy and flying at Sywell.

Flight have a massive archive of photos, many on glass plate. They come up really well on a scanner.

Wasn’t there a lot of this sort of thing going on at Hucknall post-WW2?

Crushing pressure from events and opinion conspiring against him. I can see how a person and nation can change its opinion given enough time.

The WaW series seems to indicate FDR was following a strategy that bit by bit would generate events by themselves such that opinion could only get behind the War. If you recall the “history records who fired the first shot” speech.

I wonder if they are still using the machine I set up to scan those photos 😉

They need huge sheds for construction, though a couple of hangars nr Bedford are going spare!

I understand you need an appreciation of fixed-wing, rotary-wing and boat-handling skills in order to pilot one. That takes a special pilot.

    Thanks chaps.

TT – I’m supposed to be doing an instructor course but weather and health are conspiring against progress so am stuck at home feeling ick. I’ve downloaded the entire series of the World at War and whilst making my way through it two pieces of disparate information I knew about Linbergh collided. 🙂

BBC1 just showed the 2002 version of the Count of Monte Cristo. Never seen the film or read the book before. I had seen bits of the Richard Chamberlain version but that’s a bit 70s and found it boring at the time. However I thought the 2002 was quite good, character driven plots and period drama with the odd bit of comedy thrown in. Plus Dagmara Dominczyk is blimmin gorgeous and only a few months older than me. 🙂
