Perhaps you need to be a bit more explicit? 🙂

ShieldsUP! is a nice little web-based util that test out your firewall
    http://www.grc.com/default.htm

I often use Spybot to track down and stop startup items.

The critical way thing you must do to prevent further infection is to not use Internet Explorer. You must be proactive and not rely on applications that are reactive

    All the below is free

Stick to Windows XP for now
    Install Service Pack 2
Have your PC sit behind a firewall (that is separate from your PC). Most broadband routers come with one. This isolates machine from the box dealing with the comms. Make sure the firewall is properly configured.
Use another browser. Firefox will work 95% of the time. If there’s an IE-only site and you can trust it, by all means fire up IE.
    Install AVG from http://free.grisoft.com

I tend not to install Windows Updates if I have the above running. This is purely for stability reaosns, Microsoft can introduce more problems than they fix.

MP3 came to pass into the public mainstream about 10 years ago. I remember using DOS to encode WAV file, which I ripped in realtime (ouch) and waiting 10 odd minutes to get a 3 min MP3. How things change. I can rip and encode an entire CD in perhaps 3-4 mins.

I seriously think that FLAC, a lossless and importantly open-source format, is the next way to go. Okay the output file is perhaps 5 times greater than a MP3 but int his day of high-capacity storage that is less of an issue. I’ve had a quick bash at encoding with the Pro version of Winamp and the results sound good.

There is a website where you can get unofficial firmware for your iPod that supports FLAC. As ever use at your own peril.

Another whinge about DRM. Can we have an open portable music player without the need for restricted formats? Please?

I think Rufus Heald (later an instructor at Exeter) was stationed at HK on Venoms.

Unsynched props are blimmin uncomfortable; I’ve had to mnually adjust both in a Piper Aztec and in a sim. Anyone old enough to have flown on piston airliners and experienced synch issues?

If being civil registered, would this not be the first C-130 to operate on the UK register?

I originally thought that C-130`s were never approved for civil ops on the UK register.

Everything is changing under EASA, wouldn’t be surprised if this was now allowed because it has been so done in another European country.

pagen01 is correct about the delays.

The engine fitted to the BM 737 involved in the Kegworth disaster had not been properly air-tested. If it had been, the fault involved might have surfaced. I’d rather see procedure fully complied with rather than corners being cut to meet a deadline 🙂 Lord knows Airbus don’t need further bad rep following the A380.
