Former JGSDF.
A company in Toyama Prefecture recently bought 12 JGSDF retired OH-6D.
The company did not comply with the agreement, and did not disassemble or scrap the helicopters, before it sold them to companies in Australia, New Zealand, others.
IFF, radio, and weapons were removed from the helicopters, so the sales did not break the laws against exporting weapons.

Shen Yang AF, PLAAF.
About 10:30 AM, during training, crashed, at a corn farm, at Lian Hua Village, Fu Zhou Cheng Town, Wa Fang Dian City, near Da Lian City, Liao Ning Province.
Pilot didn’t eject, and martyred.
Based on condition of wreck and witnesses’ claims, it flew comparatively slow before it dived into the field, where it caught fire, but didn’t explode.
On 25 October 2012, Hong Du had a ceremony when it delivered its final Q-5, after which Q-5 production line discontinued.

During RTB, couldn’t lower all three landing gear.
Guided by tower, safely emergency landed.
Pilot was LIU Gang.

Lan Zhou AF, PLAAF, based in Gan Su Province.
After patrol sortie, while landing, about 194 m AGL and 2,900 m from runway, bird strike = hit pigeons, and crashed.

F-CK-1A IDF. Single-seat.

443rd Composite Wing, ROCAF, based at Tai Nan AB.
About 9:51 AM, during landing, overran west runway, and stopped on grass.
Aircraft damaged (reportedly lightly), and landing gear broke.
Pilot not wounded.
First Lieutenant LIN Yu Qi (25).
Began conversion from F-5 to IDF, and had 18 hours in IDF.
Crane hoisted aircraft onto truck, roped down, and trucked away to hangar.
Aircraft and pilot aren’t involved in the air shows at the AB on August 8 and 10, for the 60th anniversary of the Thunder Tigers aero team.

JASDF, based at Nyuutabaru AB, Miyazaki Prefecture.
Morning, during gunnery exercise, dropped orange nylon net.
Diameter, 80 cm.
Length, 5 m.
Weight, 4.5 kg.
As tow target in air, net attached to wing, and became cylinder shape.
One of flight of three.
Above Hyuuganada Sea, during exercise, net detached, and caught on left wing of following aircraft.
Three aircraft aborted exercise, and returned to base.
Before landing, above Miyake, Saito City, part of net dropped.
Air base sent about 150 personnel to search, and did not find net.

Early June 2013:
JASDF, based at Komatsu AB, Ishikawa Prefecture.
Two ground crew: one in his 10s, and one in his 20s.
They used a compressor normally used to pump up tires, to pump air into each other’s anus.
The one in his 10s, had abdomen pain, and sent to hospital.
After the accident, both were disciplined.

P-1. Mass-production version.
JMSDF.
Above Pacific Ocean, during test flight, at high altitude and high speed, descended from 10,000 m to 8,000 m.
At least two engines shut down, or were shut down.
Crew restarted engines, and returned to base.
Intended to enter service by end of June, and now grounded.
Prototype version did not have this malfunction.
Mass-production version changed engine shape partly.

1st home-made utility choppers to replace UH-1Hs

The Surion, Korea’s first indigenous helicopter, has been deployed after a six-year development phase, the Army said Wednesday.
Ten Korean Utility Helicopters (KUH-1), developed by Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI), jointly with European Aeronautic Defense and Space Company (EADS) Eurocopter, have been deployed to the Army Aviation School in Nonsan, South Chungcheong Province.
3 June 2013:

Xi An City Police Department.
About 6 PM, during training, crashed, at a farm, Yu Shan Town, Lan Tian County.
Three crew.
Villagers who witnessed the accident, claimed one crew jumped out of the helo before it crashed, and heavily wounded.
Two crew remained in the helo, and didn’t survive the post-crash fire.
