Between 20:00 and 12:00 on 20 June 2012, ate and drank beer, cocktail, and wine, at Yamato City, Kanagawa Prefecture, and walked back to base.
In base, to return to dormitory, communications operator 1 (23) drove four-wheel-drive car.
Pilot 1 (23) sat at passenger’s seat.
Communications operator 2 (23) and pilot 2 (24) stepped on rear bumper, and held onto car.
Driver knew the two were on rear bumper, and drove at 20 km/h.
After 100 m, the two fell off.
Ambulance took them to Yamato City hospital.
Heavily wounded: bleeding in the brain, and skull fracture.
Hospitalised until middle July.

The Victorian cottage that was used as Kelly McGillis’ house in the 1986 movie “Top Gun” is featured in this “About San Diego” story.
The home was built in 1887 and is located at 102 Pacific St. in Oceanside, built by retired physician Henry Graves.
Plans are to relocate the currently abandoned historic house one block and restore it to its original appearance.

17:10, took off, to rescue eight hikers endangered by flooded swamp, on Moriyoshi Mountain [1,454 metres], Kita Akita City.
17:35, 30 m above hikers, during hover, air flow caused helicopter to descend four to five metres, and hit tree branches.
Three hikers rescued by Prefectural Fire Department helicopter in same mission.
Five hikers by themselves descended mountain.

ROC MND confirmed media reports that flares bought for F-16s were defective.
In each of 2005 and 2008, ROCAF bought MJU-7A/B flares.
Total quantity is 70 thousand shots.
ROCAF used and found some flares were defective.
In 2009, ROC MND sued supplier(s), and asked CSIST (Chung Shan Institute of Science and Technology) to resolve the problem.
CSIST completed its research, and probably would improve the flares by 2013.
Reportedly, the two batches of flares cost over NT$ 60 mil.
They can’t, or fail to, fire.
They remain in warehouses, and aren’t used.
