The maintenance cost for Korea’s F-15Ks has jumped nearly 10-fold over the past four years, becoming a financial burden to the nation’s defense budget, multiple sources said Monday.
2012/02/09:
In Hua Lien County (Hua Lian County), at the Hua Lien Chung Hwa Vocational Senior High School (Hua Lian Zhong Hua Vocational Senior High School), a retired ROCAF F-86, after 10+ years, has poor maintenance.
On February 4, ROC MND staff went to take a look, and confirmed the front fuselage was OK, but the middle and rear fuselages were seriously damaged.
ROCAF 1st Logistics Command will retrieve and repair the middle and rear fuselages, while the school keeps the front fuselage.

2012/02/07:
Accident report: cause was pilots’ “loss of terrain alertness”.
Reportedly, the F-5s lacked the advanced computer navigation system of the second-generation fighters.
To compensate, air force added “ground barriers” and “ground landmarks” data to the ground automatic operational control system.
When an aircraft is below the “ground barrier height”, its pilot will be warned.
Also, radar screen will add / display the flight path, for ground controller to beware of the flight path and navigation mission.
