To be concise, some Taiwanese and I are “having fun” with looking for the C/N (construction number) plates on the retired Taiwanese F-104s displayed in public in Taiwan.
http://www.i-f-s.nl/index87.htm
I checked the Scramble/Dutch Aviation Society site for clues WRT the F-104 and other aircraft that the ROCAF operated/operates (F-5, F-86, Mirage 2000, T-33, &c), and noticed the Scramble list for North American at
http://wiki.scramble.nl/index.php/Construction_number_locations_%28N-R%29#North_American
doesn’t seem to include the F-100.
Does anyone here have descriptions and photos of where the C/N plates are in or on a F-100?

Airlines asked to share costs to train Air Force pilots
11-10-2011 18:57
The Air Force is lobbying lawmakers to legislate a law requiring Korean Air, Asiana Airlines and other smaller carriers to share the training costs of military pilots.
Its move comes as a growing number of pilots are retiring early from service to work in the private sector, lured by higher wages and more generous benefits.

2011.11.09:
JASDF announced accident cause was probably pilot was partly conscious, or unconscious.
According to flight recorder, at altitude 3,200 m, turned right, and descended.
Condition was above 5.5 G, and continued eight seconds.
Pilot stopped turning.
At 5,000′, decelerated, and pitched up towards horizontal two times.
10 seconds after first attempt, resumed to descend.
Down to crash, wings were parallel to ocean surface.
Probability of vertigo was low or no.
Pilot lost control and feeling of altitude.
WRT the F-5, does each F-5 have just one C/N plate?
Or does it have more C/N plates elsewhere?

“F-5 Freedom Fighter
The construction number plate can be found on the floor of the cockpit, left-hand side, behind the ejection seat.”

To be concise, this autumn, the Taiwanese military base at Cheng Gong Ling, Tai Chung County, renovated one of its parking lots to display six restored tactical aircraft, including F-5B, F-5E, T-33, and F-104.
Some Taiwanese Netters and I’ve been discussing whether this F-104, painted as S/N (serial number) “4522”, is or isn’t the real 4522, as there’s photographic/physical evidence that the real 4522 is indoor, at a museum in Kao Hsiung City.
One clue is to check the C/N (construction number) plates on its four landing gear doors for its C/N, and compare this with its S/N… although we’re aware of the risk that during its decades of active duty and maintenance, its original landing gear doors could’ve been exchanged with other F-104s.
OTOH, opening its canopy to check the C/N plate in the cockpit, or removing its nose cone to check the C/N plate in the radar compartment, is… difficult.

Anyway. My dumb question is: if said Netters managed to make an appointment with the base, and to investigate this F-104, while they are at it there… does the F-5 have similarly accessible C/N plates?
If yes, where? Any photo or URL for comparison?
