2011.10.20:
JASDF announced intermediate report.
Accident F-15 checked, and had no abnormal.
Accident cause possibly drop tank or pylon below wing.
After examined debris, high chance of drop tank cracked during flight.
Inside drop tank, air pressure increased to very high, static electricity and wiring short-circuited, detonated fuel, and exploded.

FYI, Netters (including yours truly) who comment (in Chinese) here,
http://tw.myblog.yahoo.com/pei131313/article?mid=5650&prev=-2&next=-2&page=1&sc=1#yartcmt
have been more interested in the real ID of the F-104 “4522” beside those F-5s.
The… concept is, years ago, a civilian facility may have gotten a retired aircraft pre-painted as “123” from ROCAF, but fans (more experienced and local than me) checked its fuselage or markings or other clues that suggest it’s really 456, then years later, some (presumed) accountant or clerk at the ROCAF answered, yes, it’s not “123”, and is really 789, and said fans thought: I don’t think so, Captain.
Thus, we’re doubting whether this “4522” is the real 4522?

2011.10.09:
Possible accident cause is: drop tank interior over-pressurised, and exploded.
Normally, when fuel exited drop tank, air entered drop tank, to keep pressure.
When over-pressured, pressure escaped from valve.
At Komatsu AB, all grounded F-15 checked for system that, to adjust pressure, delivered air to and fuel from drop tank.
Also, electronic system that displayed in cockpit, amount of fuel in drop tank.

So I’ve been gawking at South Kimchi KF-16 photos for another few weeks (I volunteered for the F-16.net quest “Republic of Korea Air Force KF-16 missing photographs”), and something bugs me.
In some photos, maybe taken at Won Ju, some KF-16s didn’t have S/Ns on their tail fins.
Presuming the S/Ns were NOT greyed out by Photoshop, why no S/N?
Test flights after assembly or IRAN?
