Yes Bruce, still doing it’s job after 73 years!
One thing I forgot to mention is the “stench” of the English Channel in sleepy Shropshire!. even after taking a shower I can still smell it!

Just to give a bit of an idea of what to expect when visiting Cosford and the Dornier.
Weather was rubbish this morning and the “lemon juice” was in full spray!
Here’s a few pics, haven’t a clue what the subject matter is in shot 3 but hopefully some of you may know? The “plate” is remarkably preserved!
As Cosford is just up the road I’ll be taking more shots as the project progresses.

Only found this thread due to the recent post by Howard500!
Back in March I was fortunate to attend the TICO Warbird Airshow in Florida and what Matt Younkin does with his Beech is nothing short of remarkable!
Here’s a link to the photos on my website.

Well, if your in Florida back end of March then you will see the T’birds performing at the TICO Warbird airshow in Titusville FL for the full 3 days, it might be their last for 2013 unless the politicians bang their heads together up on the hill!!

Merely scratched and within a few weeks up and flying again!:)
Going slightly off topic but could anyone direct me to information relating to the aircraft SOC at Cosford, late 40’s early 50’s?

Great piece of footage and as you rightly point out a “stunt”. Just wondering how many takes it took to replace the “tire” until they realised that a spoked wheel would be lighter to carry and do the job!?
Nevertheless, superb airmanship and bravery to all concerned.
Great find!

Do know of a gentleman whom I’m close with who was Chief Engineer on the Valiants based at Marham in the late 50’s/early 60’s.
Lot’s of storys to tell about the “Organ Loft” amongst others!
PM me if this is of interest.

It would seem that the mission just prior to the raids was known as “Operation Chastise” or simply to the general public afterwards the “Dams Raid”.
The earliest phrase I can find referring to “Dam Busters” or “Dambusters” appeared on the dinner menu of all things at Buck Palace on the 22nd June 1943 following on from when the then Queen awarded Guy Gibson the Victoria Cross and other distinguished medals to the crews.

Here’s a little video from Goose Bay Canada circa 1962 shot by my Father-in Law, looks ruddy cold! The Vulcan was sent out there to deliver a spare starter motor for the Valiant XD825 which had gone tech!
Lot’s of other interesting aircraft on view,

Crikies! never noticed that before Propstrike! Great spot!
Welsh Snow Scenes…Not so Long Ago!
I took these shots back in 2010, I’d set myself a little project to photograph low flying activity in Wales during the winter with a snow covered background.
I must have been mad! It was minus 8 degrees, according to the outside temp gauge on the car when I arrived at the location!
It took me well over an hour (if not more) on foot going cross country to reach my normal spot due to snow drifts and the severe wind and cold.
Anyway, here’s the shots from the day!

Flying Legends will look like that in a few years time!
A part from the fact that the “fitters” will be under umbrellas!
We’ll start again! Handley Page Hampden, predictive text on an iPad and lack of reading glasses, can ‘t blame JD for that one!

If true, don’t expect to see the restoration any time soon!
Wellington, Do17, Typhoon prototype, Kestrel, Hampton just to name a few!
Those guys at the MBCC have certainly got their work cut out!
