Not too sure if this is true as I was told this by one of the curator’s at Cosford, but during one of the engine runs the brakes were dabbed a little too hard causing the a/c to lurch forward and taking off at least 2″ off the props?
I was fortunate to take a few photos with and without the cowling panels off and in a few frames the props do indeed look a little stunted?

You might want to pop along on the 15th as this coincides with the launch of the first 2013 Cosford Airshow press day. Rumour has it that there are fixed wing aircraft flying but don’t ask me exactly what. Might be worth a punt!
Jaguars are out and about apparently doing their thing on the pan.

If true I wonder whether it will be on display or in storage? Can’t imagine that it’s going to MBCC as those guys have enough on their plate at the moment!
Still, live in hope it might get to be displayed along with the 410 and Komet.

Hi Bill,
Personally I’m surprised you’ve been able to upload directly to the forum, usually you have to go through a hosting site such as Flickr, Photobucket etc. As going direct clogs up the said forum’s server space, by going via a third party so to speak you are only providing a link to the photo on that site if that makes sense!
Forgot to mention in my previous post that the advice I gave applies to if you are running Windows XP as your computers operating system.

Don’t want this to sound like a Kop-out but I transferred to Flickr about 18 months ago due to compression issues with Photobucket.
I’m not versed in these other sites but maybe right click on the image at the highest resolution you’ve uploaded at and then choose properties and highlight and copy the URL link from there and paste it between the usual pre and post IMG brackets.
Apologies if you have already tried this! Alternatively open a Flickr account for only the photos you want to post, think this is free for a certain amount of shots unless you are a BT Internet/yahoo user and then it’s unlimited.

Hi Argonaut,
What are you uploading to? Flickr, Photobucket?
I suppose the next question is what/where are you deleting from?
I’ll do my best to help!

Hi Rob,
No not from the station, decided to pitch up along the A464 as the sun was behind me. Looking over the airfield the station platform appeared quite busy.

Both are a priority having spoken to a senior member of MBCC 🙂

Regarding the recovery of the Do17, I popped along to Cosford yesterday and saw a new structure which has only gone up in the last few weeks.
Did think RAFM were diversifing into tomato growing but I reckon these two “poly tunnels” are to house the fuselage and wing sections in some form of hydration tanks.
So to answer the original poster, yes, things do seem to be progressing, expect an attempt at a recovery during the summer. 🙂

And yes that is the Nimrod fuselage in the background of the first photo!

Got to agree with Atcham Tower, a little intervention could be a really good thing regarding this historic find.
Got to ask the question….Has the so called Arab Spring made any difference to the state of Egypt?
Remarkable photographs, amazing how well preserved it is, let’s hope it stays that way.
Many thanks chaps, didn’t think I’d get the answer so quickly.
Much appreciated!

I fear this will be the last we see of her, something tells me deep inside that I wish it had remained undiscovered.
Thoughts go out to the pilots’ fate.
