Look in comercial aviation, they have plenty of links in the thread there.
Hooray!!
Well, hopefully the start of a long and useful career for this great aircraft. Any info about performance so far? Wondered what the test pilots thought of her on first impressions.

A solution?
Could it be possible to re-design future aircraft with a sealed cockpit and crew compartment, with only external access? No-one from the passenger compartment could then get into the cockpit.
I know that this may cause some problems, but i don’t think there are any that aren’t fairly easy to overcome. Just a thought.

eurofighter isn’t what we could call a modern fighter, F22 is, Rafale is, even block 60 is or the 2000-9!
Sorry? This does sound more than a little biased, and unfounded in reality. Give the Typhoon a chance, it seems that everyone here gets a real kick out of mocking it. Besides, with 620 required by the partner AFs, even with the new orders for Singapore and Saudi I don’t think Rafale sales will overtake Typhoons.
Its just really disappointing to see Typhoon miss its chance to be great, like so many other projects the Uk gets into.
The greedy europeans will sell their mother to china for a couple of euro’s if they could.
What? We (the EU) haven’t lifted the arms embargo on china. And if we want to be picky over this, the US has long supplied arms to nations that have massive human rights abuses, (eg. Saudi Arabia and Ecuador in the 1970s-80s). I don’t think any of us in Europe or the US have the right to criticize others over this issue until we stop doing it ourselves.
What to say?
No one posts because there isn’t much to say, really. So some pilots made a minor navigation error, big deal, but at least the kids got thier own flying display 😀
The Harrier was in service before 1975, Blackcat. They were in service in 1969.
And I thought that BAE worked with Lockheed Martin on the F-35 bid, not with McDonnell Douglas, (which is now owned by Boeing I think).
What happened to the Yak 41 project, was it just scrapped at the end of the cold war?
M2k best
I would choose the M2k for the following reasons
Already in service
Better strike capability
Better BVR capability
More weaps avaliable
As M2k is already in service it would be much easier to buy some more as opposed to buying a new a/c they have no experience with
It is much better at mulit-role as well, so india would get more bang for their buck
Also, given that the main strategic threat is Pakistan, who do not have a BVR capability yet, this gives an M2k an upper hand over the MiG.
And as pointed out already, there are many more avaliabel weapons for the M2k.
Still, all this said, If the Su30 were offered here as well, i would be inclined to go for that. But hell, thats probably just cause i love Flankers!
Guys, We just DON’T KNOW how they will perform yet. They’re not even finished yet, and even when they are they’ll probably have a very similar loadout anyway. Typhoon is better in a few minor ways, Rafale in others. Anyways, we’re all on the same side anyway. (Until france sells Rafale to Iran and China!)
For the UK-
Harrier Gr.7s for CAS
Tornado Gr.4s for carpet bombing
WAH-64 Apaches to sweep up the survivors
Eh-101 Merlins to get you out of there.
Sure as hell wouldn’t say no to some A-10s or an AC-130 though!
F-16 vs M2k
The Hellenic AF flies both F-16s and M2ks, and i have read quotes from some of their pilots stating that the M2k is much better in a dogfight, but i wouldn’t be as sure about the newer model aircraft.
But Air-ground i would always go with F-16 out of the two.
Albainian AF
I don’t see that Albania really has a requirement for a fighter force. They have no real strategic enemies, so the only reason to have fighters would be for counter-instugency or air policing from terrorists ( but how likely is that?). Why not just save on the fighers and buy a modern fleet of helicopters, transport planes and if need be some cheap air-ground capable planes (e.g. Alpha jets or Su-25s). I think this would suit Albania’s needs much more effectively.
I read that article too. Very interesting.
A regional bomber might be more suitable than a strategic bomber in most roles today, especially a stealthy one like this.
Plus i hear that the manufacturers might pitch it to the UK, which would be great for our capabilities, since we have lacked a proper bomber for over 20 years. Still, good luck getting funding- this won’t come cheap.
