Bet it cost a Packet to make!! 😀
Yes, early Mosquitos wore this scheme and I believe there is some debate about whether some of the BOAC Mosquitos also wore this scheme.
Got the latest Flypast today.. For you Spitfire fans the news ‘of possibles’ going to Airframe Assembles will make you pant… Not sure how to read the story but I counted 4 or 5!
However, there is a brief news report of the P-39 recoverey from Russia. It is called ‘substantial wreckage’ now I have seen photos of her and no way could you call her ‘substantial wreckage’, more like ‘almost complete’..
Is this a bit of sour grapes because the other mag got the exclusive?
Someone has got to be first and ‘the other mag’ had a superb coverge!
Ahah! Excellent stuff. I always thought the ‘early ’60s solid dayglo paint scheme applied to the RAF’s trainers was replaced by dayglo paper strips, because dayglo paint faded too quickly and had to be constantly repainted. Guess they can handle it in small strips like on the Canberra.
How many of the General Public would think to look up the Monarch website to book a flight? It’s okay and not as tacky as Easyjet?

There were at least two DC-3s converted like this, but they were extremely expensive to run due to their weight.

Nice shots. Were they all taken through the fence of the viewing area? If so, you did very well. I recall going there a few years ago and there were rubbish bins against the fence, so I used them to stand on to take shots over that fence! Then security asked me what I was doing and I said I was just obeying their signs which said ‘ Please use the rubbish bins’ – but it didn’t say for what! After that, they concreted the bins in the ground further back on the grass!

Where are you standing? On the A38 roadside?

See… 😀
See what? At least the colours are accurate? 😎
Not a problem squire, took it as banter. 😉
Anyway, Albert can’t complain as it was his pic that was used as “source material”. We (Malc and me) did exhaustive tests for colour balance, taking into account apparent colour tempertaure, hue, saturation, brightness, PanTone number, original film-base stock, date of image and the colour of Albert’s socks the day he took the slide. Then we just eyeballed the pic and Malc painted it orange. 😀 😀
Interesting, but why ‘paint’ it orange when the RAF still have plenty of dayglo orange adhesive paper in vast roles, which is what it is? I guess that paint is more durable than adhesive paper?
That’s impressive. But is it the right shade of orange? 😀
P**s off! It’s perfect!!! If all restorers were as festidious as me(not ‘picky’ I might add) and did their research properly, we would have a lot more accurate museum and airworthy aircraft to see, rather than some of the ‘that’ll do’, or ‘near enough’ restorations. If a job’s worth doing, it’s worth doing properly and the MAM Canberra is a fine example!
