Very nice, but who’s smart An-12 is that?
I don’t know, from the latest pccies of the A380, it’s holding all that weight up nicely 😀
..but it hasn’t bounced on a few runways yet 😮

Another two for me: G-HIHO Highland Airways 747-100 by Aeroclassics. A short lived transatlantic operation from Prestwick and Birmingham to New York.
Like most similar types of operator, they were squeezed out of the market by the big boys like BA.
And a Boeing Stratocruiser of United Airlines (N31225) by Dragon Wings. A great looking classic airliner.
Aeroclassics and Gemini Jets are the best, but some of Dragon Wings’ models don’t quite ‘cut the mustard’. The United Stratocruiser’s nose isn’t quite the right shape ( too shallow curve underneath) and the United blue is slightly too light. Should be Navy blue.
Well folks it’s official… I’m addicted to these little suckers. Here’s the latest three in the collection…
The DC-10 and 747 are beauts, but not impressed by the ‘rain gutters’ on the Concorde wings! 🙁
It is a regular visitor to Asda , West Swindon…..

Yes, I’ve noticed bl**dy wasps all around the fruit in the summer there!
Countryside is about right for Andrews field. However I’ve checked Multimap and although I can’t remember for sure what pylons look like on the OS map I can’t see anything that might be a power line. I reckon it’s somewhere else.
Given that Don Bullock was apparently Ted White’s partner in Euroworld I don’t think it can be anyone else at that height in Sally B…

Could be Fenland Airfield, Holbeach St. Johns 4th Sept 1977 as I have some very similar shots taken that day.
Finally got the pic to work – I think.

Bingo! …32 Squadron it is!
I’ll be going to RIAT – Royal International ABINGDON Tattoo 😉 😉 😉
I think BBMF Lancaster will have Spitfire and Hurricane with it, isn’t there a Meteor or two about?
We now have just three Meteor airworthy in UK, the NF14 at Kemble and the two Mk.7 1/2s at Charlgrove, although I doubt whether they will participate.
XB261 is now at newark Albert
Greedy lot, why do they need TWO Beverley cockpits??
Albert -It’s been relocated to the new hangar at Newark Air Museum .
I think you’re confused as Newark have the cockpit of camouflaged XL149 from Finningley. XB261’s cockpit was still at Duxford last year.
Thanks for that additional info. It always irritates me when publications refer to A&AEE as ‘Aircraft’ & Armament instead of ‘Aeroplane’. However you failed to mention that before it became part of DTEO, it was actually renamed ‘Aircraft & Armament Evaluation Establishment for a short while, conveniently keeping the same initials. One thing I forgot to mention is that the cockpit area of XB261 still survives at Duxford and is in the large hangar and open for viewing.
Sorry to hikack the thread, but what happened to the Valletta and Hastings?
Are they preserved?Great photos Albert 🙂
The Valetta is WJ491 which I think ended up on Gatow’s Fire Dump and the Hastings is TG502 which went the same way at Boscombe Downm if my memory serves me correctly.
XB261
Having read this, I just had to post these slides that I took of XB261 at Boscombe Down. The first two were taken on the approach on 14 August 1970 with the clam-shell doors removed, so she must have been doing a para-drop trial over Salisbury Plain. I remember the day well as it was very overcast with just a few small holes in the clouds where the sun was popping out. Suddenly I heard this heavy piston getting closer, but couldn’t see it, until it emerged from the clouds and the sun illuminated it just for my camera! The third shot was taken at Boscombe Down on 18th March 1971 with the doors replaced during the A&AEE 50th Anniversary show. The last shot was taken on that day also, albeit in very gloomy conditions. However a Beverley, Hastings, Valetta and two Hercules is not a formation you see every day!!!
Enjoy!
